Just bought a new Coleman Powermate PM0525202.03 Electric Generator 2 weeks ago and the engine works but not the generator. It worked for about 6 days and then just died one night. What could be the problem? My generator starts and runs fine, but no power from the outlet. I've tried the circuit breaker, no difference. I don't have a service/owner manual, I looked on the website and there is none available for my model. How do you "Jump start a generator?? Mine is a Powermate model PM0542000 5 HP, 2250 watts.
Again, these generators need a charge to "jump start" them and it is
done via a capacitor.

Since it is brand new, I recommend simply returning it for a working model instead of trying to putter around with it and void any warranty you may have..
Check the alternator,
check that the alternator is running, if there is no power at all probably the alternator belt had slipped out or is not in tension.
Otherwise the alternator is faulty.
Have a look.
Try checking the connection of the cords that come from the actual generator to the socket that is supposed to give out power. You may need the connection re-soldered or repaired. Then try checking that the fuse for the socket is not blown because it is made to blow if something that is plugged up to the socket is using too much power.

Okay, I opened the housing with the outlet on it and found a component I don't recognize that looks like it exploded! There's white sticky material and what looks like packing coming out of the end of it. It's black and has 2 wires attached to one end. There's a number on the side, maybe a part #, HD 9135. It also says TEAPO 130_F200V NEGATIVE 85*C. This must be the problem, thank you for your input. Cher
I hope what I found after your suggestion is the solution. Thanks
