Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

No power Hi all, My projector was working fine for 3 months until one day I tried to turn it on and didn't come up. It shows no light, no fan, nothing at all. I was looking for a fuse to replace the one is close to the power inlet but can not find one similar to it. It's a Ceramic fuse 2.5 amp 250V (I don't know if it is fast or slow blow, as it is an electronic device I assume it's fast blow). Anybody knows about this failure in this model?

My projector is a BenQ SL705X

  • Arturo La Paz Nov 10, 2008

I already check the cables and are good.

Check the fuse too and shows no continuity, my problem is that I can not find another fuse equal to this one (I have searched in RadioShack and a lot of electronic stores in NYC and the internet).

The fuse reads in one of its metalic ends: T2,5H250V . It's a ceramic fuse, but don't know if it is Fast or slow acting or time delay, All the people I ask has no clue about.

    Hi Ohms,

Thanks for your answer with the links of the fuse I need. Can you find other sites for it?

Of the sites you gave me yesterday,  1 out of 3 has it in stock and they ask me to send my credit card information via fax in an acrobat form they sent me.... I rather pass on this one for now.

It is a ceramic fuse T2.5H250V 5x20mm, if the site is in USA, much better.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

The size of the fuse is more commonl;y known as GMA. You can use any GMA fuse rated at 2.5Amps that is a fast acting fuse. A ceramic fuse is usually a chemical fuse that is very fast acting. The glass GMA is a suitable substitute and should be available at Radio Shack or any local electronics store.

This information was very helpful. Knowing the GMA term allowed me to find the correct ceramic fuse I was looking for at Amazon. Thank you.

This fuse is a slow blow T stands for time delay, and the rest of the numbers are the fuse current/voltage ratings.

Got your request and I'm working on it.

"fax it with my credit card information" -> sounds fishy - they know some electronic parts are really hard to find.

First just check the wire connection to the outlet.

2nd test and check the ceramic fuse you find on the powersupply area could be this one is faulty.

Why won't my Optoma DV10 projector won't turn on?

On an Optoma DV10 if its not the lamp timer, then it might be a cooling fan that needs replacing. Take out the old one, and look-up its part number online. If you don't feel confident taking it apart, have a qualified person do this.

Projector turns on the power light flashing and lamp light solid

Here's the fix: Take off the top cover of the projector. Unplug the wire leading from the two fans in the back of the unit to one of the circuit boards in front of you. Just trace one wire from fan to board. Unplug at board. Turn unit on and it will again turn on, show HP splash screen and then shut down, like it should, because the fans are now disabled. After it completly shuts down, plug the fan wire back into the board. Turn the unit back on and, presto, its working again. It will not turn off.

Try it!
