Question about LG 24 in. LDS 5811 Built-in Dishwasher

Water is leaking onto the floor from the front of the unit.

It seems that the front door seal is shot allthough the unit is just over a year old...the problem is that I can't seem to constrict my torso enough to fit in there to servey the damage and or pin point the problem. and Ideas?

Thank you MNTECH for taking the time to answer my issue, I took the time to remove the outer door skin to survey the problem and whitness the leakage from the outside of the unit and saw where the seal was leaking I will now use the part number you listed and purchase that seal.

You might try a part number 3920DD3005A door gasket, which is a bit thicker than the old ones and should help with this issue for many LG dishwashers.

My dishwasher is leaking from the bottom of the front door. I can't seem to get to the drain filter. Can that be removed? I think there may be a clog in it.

If the leak is from the bottom of the front door than it is most likely the door seal. If the leak is from beneath the unit and appearing to leak out from the front there are many sources for the water.

Check the seal around the door. It may have some residue that has collected prohibiting the seal. The water in the machine actually sits in a tub. The seal on the door prohibits the water leaking as the spray arm rotates.

To test the door seal start the cycle and stop the unit as soon as the machine begins the spray cycle. Open the door and observe that the tub is full but still below the edge. Dry the seal around the door. Place colored paper towels or cloth beneath the door as close to the door seal as possible, Continue with the cycle and observe for water leaks. Stop allow the unit to sit a few seconds open door and observe the seal. You are looking for the location that it is leaking.

If you can confirm that the seal is leaking you can purchase replacement seals, On some models they can be easily replaced.

In my experience I have not seen a filter in the return line. If there is a blocked return hose the unit would not leak. The tub would remain filled after the cycle. There is an overflow switch that prohibits the tub from overfilling if the tub has not emptied between cycles.

Maytag dishwasher leak

If it's leaking from the door, a new gasket may fix this. If it's leaking from the pump, the seal is worn out, and the repair may be too costly or difficult. If the unit is 5 years old, consider a replacement.

Float switch dripping water onto floor while dishwaser running

You will find that the flood switch will be operating due to the leak, it will most likely be from one of 2 places:
1. Around the door seal, Give it a clean and check for splits/damage, and make sure screws on door hinges are tight.
2. Check the rollers that screw onto the inside of the dishwasher cabinet, The screws on these can come loose and cause water to run down into the base, check they are tight.
Hopefully this helps.

I would look at the door seal being a problem as well. if the water level float were leaking, it would be worse then just a little water. The door seal is always the first to go. these seal can be replaced by pulling the old one off and pushing the new one back in place. should be able to buy new seal from the people the unit can be bought from.

Hello,
Check the rubber seal in the bottom of the door has not perished or split, also check the bottom spray arm has not split on the ends as this will direct the spray directly onto the door, causing it to leak.

Hope this helps

Dishwasher is leaking

If the unit has a removable lower front panel, take it off and slide a sheet of news print under the machine so that the leak will show as a wet spot on the paper. This gives you a clue as to the location of the leak. That position will lead you to a leaking hose, pump, inlet solenoid valve, door seal, and so on. Hope this helps!

Water leaking onto the floor

1. If the water is going onto the floor during the drain cycle there is either a hole in the hose or it is completely loose from the DW or a hole in the drain assembly under the sink but if that were the case you would have water under the sink also.
2. If it during the wash or rinse cycle then the seals are not sealing (door is not closed all the way or seals are bad) or the float at the right front of the DW is stuck allowing the DW to overfill with water.(you need to open the door and pull the float up and out as you do so push it up and down and listen for a clicking sound.(which indicates it is making contact with the fill solenoid)..if you here the clicking and the float is full of gunk (old soap and such) clean it out and replace it and run it through a cycle and monitor the DW to see if the fill cycle shuts off before the water reaches the overflow point.
3. the only other option is a possible rust through on the DW and or the drain and motor mount in the center of the DW where the food particles and water are drained...is loose and leaking or rusted through...(how old is the DW).
4. Also check to see there are no large particles around the door seal to prevent complete closure and sealing of the door seal. As well as the door latching properly (when closed can the door be moved or pulled open)?

I hope this helps and let me know if not Please relay model number, age and other specifics you feel are pertinent...thank you and please rate me if this helped...thanks again ...the Fang
