    Thanks, turned out to be the audio board, $17.00 (+$8.00 shipping).

    Only required removing/installing four screws and four connectors to replace (not counting ~20 screws securing the immense back cover).

    (My son will be more careful from now on when connecting inputs and outputs of stereo receiver... ;^)

My picture is distorted and fuzzy till it warms up and/or the front align button is pressed a few times.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.

Wavey color lines at bottom of picture. Crackling noises coming from back bad picture

Howdy;
The "crackling noises" from the back is causing the picture to distort. 1) Either locate source of "noise" and correct or 2) Call a Service Company and get corrected. I would recommend that you DO NOT USE TV until this corrected. It may cause a fire inside your TV.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Distorted sound

Poor signal or poor connection to the cable probably. Could also be a speaker issue or the audio board on the tv is failing.

Most likely just poor signal or poor connection on the cable.

Picture snaps off, Sound still come through.

A crackling sound could mean that the flyback's insulation has failed and it is arcing inside. If that is the case then it may stop working entirely pretty soon. Take it to a tech as soon as you can, the flyback is a pretty expensive part, however if it blows it can break the set to the point that repairs will not be worth it.
