Disc draw wont open

Take it back to the place of purchase, this is clearly a manufacture defect.

im probbaly guessing that the motor that drives the draw has given up and died what you could do is open it up and remove the motor from the draw but still have it plugged into the board turn on the cd changed and press the eject button and see if it spins without a load on it hopefully there is a model number on the motor it that you might be able to replace it with

By not engaged i'm assuming you mean that the disc draw closes then opens again almost immediatley. This would indicate that the disc draw limit switch is not being activated by the draw or the switch has failed.
This is usualy a small sub-miniature micro switch activated by the draw itself, Sometimes a very light spray of switch cleaner into the micro switch will effect a cure. The switch gets a fairly hard life so it is more advisable to replace the switch.

I suspect this is more a mechanical problem than a power or software problem

I suggest powering down your PC,

Laying it down so the CD draw is flat,

Fashioning yourself a home made cd draw ejector device (otherwise known as a straightened paper clip),

Pressing the paper clip quite firmly into the tiny hole next to the CD Draw (it should unlock and open slightly)

Carefully and gently pulling the CD Draw out just enough to see inside and find out where the disc has got to

Physically maneouvering your whole PC to get the disc back onto the tray where it should be

Then you can either manually pull the CD Draw out and remove the disc or start the PC while it's laid down flat and see if the CD Drive auto closes and begins to spin now the disc is properly seated

If your PC doesn't have the tiny hole on the front of the Drive or if the CD Disc cannot be seen at all or cannot be persuaded back onto the tray then it's time to start opening up your PC case and removing the CD Drive for more attention

When you turn on the unit the cd draw seams to open. I hear it making a noise like if it is trying to get ready to play. When you shut the draw it won't play, change tracts, or the disc thing to put in more disc wont work. Someone please help me

try open the top cover and take the cd out.

Look underneath the unit for an access hole . It may be labeled as such.
Some CD units offer a manual drawer open device under there.

If you're really brave, unplug the unit and remove the case screws. Pop off the case and get your CD back. The you might need a draw belt. See prbline.com or studiosoundelectronics.com

is the disc stuck in a cd /dvd drive draw ?

(if so there a small pin hole on the cd / dvd unit you can push a paper clip into it to open the draw .
it's on the left under the draw this will eject the disc in side )

if not disc in draw can you post back more details of this disc and what the problem is .

You can eject the cd by pushing a paper clip into the small hole in the draw.
