Try saving the document to your local drive first, then send the file as an attachment. When the file is opened from your Outlook, it resides only as a temp file while you are viewing it, then to try to send that temp file, it causes issues with outlook. Save the file first, then send it, but don't try to send the file from the temp view whilst opening the file that is still in another e-mail

More specifics on exactly what you are doing, the step by step process you are using to get the results that you are getting may also help. I would like to help find the solution. Were you then saying that you have a word document open, and that you are trying to send as an e-mail? Or were you opening a document from an e-mail, and trying to re-send it(This is what I was assuming). When sending a document as an e-mail you should have 2 options, one is to send as an attachment, what happens when you send as an attachment? As always, apply all Service packs and updates to you office program. Also if you wish to reply, leaving the version, and SP info of your Office package will be helpful in troubleshooting. I use Office 2003 SP2. What version are you using? If you don't know, the easiest way is to click Help, then About MS Office. This will give you the version info.

Outlook is sending multiple emails

Check your outbox and make sure the email you tried to send is no longer there because outlook tends to try and try sending a previously unsent email message.
Make sure the outbox is cleaned up.
In sending email with attachments, make sure the attachment is not too big that it exceeds 5mb to avoid these type of incidents, as a work around for multiple attachments you can try sending them in a different email message.

I can't turn on Outlook. I tried to send an email

First of u should know about he limit of attachment, if its ur orgazniation email account then u should ask for the attachement sending policy most organizations r allowing only 5 mb attachment to send, if you r using gmail with outlook then gmail will allow u to send up to 20 mb attachment. before u cancel the message from the outbox u need to cancle the send/recive once that cancled u will be able to easily delete the message from outbox.if you r not able to open outlook u need to close ur outlook from taskmanager , open the process tab and close the outlook.exe session. or you can restart your computer and open ur outlook. u can open ur outlook safe mode to delete that sending file.

When open attachments in outlook 03 just locks up then opens

Outlook has bad memory management, and this happens often. The only way to relieve this is to save the attachments to your computer harddrive first, and then open it, instead of opening it from the email directly.

Its a pain, but its the cost of using Microsoft products.

Better use some online storage services like http://rapidshare.com/ to upload big files and then send only link to the file over email or open email account at Gmail (http://mail.google.com); they will allow you sending and receiving big attachments

Microsoft outlook

The problem is with the other persons email service provider. Some providers limit the size of attachment you can send or recieve. You can sometimes get round this by breaking the attachment up and sending it in smaller size files. or use a webmail system that doesn't have a limit on attachment size e.g. hotmail.
