SOURCE: Green Screen!!!

It could be the picture tube but it could also be the drive circuit foir the green tube, and I have fixed many a sony TV sets for this problem.. The best way to see if its the tube falure, is to take off the green crt socket and take off one of the tubes to the left or the right of the green as the green one is in the middle. If that turns green again and shuts down, then you know its the tube. If it does not turn green then you know that is in the green drive circuit. Most likly a bad driver transistor or the video jungle IC is bad. Oh and NEVER bang hit drop or slap your set to fix a problem. Thats the most stupid thing I have ever heard. The tube if its intermittant most of the time can be cleaned internally with a CRT rejuvenator. Who ever suggested driopping it is a fly by night repairer or unskilled or does not have the proper equipment to repair the set properly. you should know, anytime you have to hit or slap a set silly to make it work, most of the time there is a bad solder connection in sidfe on the printed circuit board and should be addressed or repaied asap as not to cause more damage to the set. Im still LOL about picking up the set and dropping it to fix it..LOLOLOL

SOURCE: retrace line on monitor

To prevent serious damage and extend the life of your monitor you need to adjust the main brigthness control of it. it is of the LOPT/Flyback transformer inside of your monitor!

check also for cold SOLDER joints on the main pcb and also on the crt neck Board.

SOURCE: sony sdm s73 screen black - green light flashing - no amber light

1. If under warranty, take it to the service center immdtly.
2. The display cable might be loose plug it up.
3. Your system might not be giving signal to the display unit. Is the system running, Listen for a beep when u turn on the system. If there is a beep the System Ok for display or the problem might lies in the Tower itself.

Hi, I had a problem with my Sony CRT television.

The faint background lines are vertical flyback lines. Start your diagnosis by turning the brightness and contrast controls to minimum and view the screen in a darkened room. If you can now see a raster with horizontal lines visible then it is likely that the tubes A1 screen voltage is excessive. The screen voltage is usually within the range of 400v to 600v. Adjustment for this is often part of the flyback transformer. Check all high value resistors
in the screen and focus circuitry. Some of these reistors may be
built into the flyback transformer. As the picture gets brighter the beam current increases, this will eventually cause the X ray protection circuits to trigger shuting off the set. A fault in the video drive circuits to the cathodes of the tube will cause similar symptoms but usualy results in a predominance of one colour, ie
bright red, blue or green raster with flyback lines.

Make screen brighter

Open the display settings from the control panel and increment the brightness and contrast to suit. If not there are hardware issues and might need attention internally.

How do i get the screen brighter?

You will need to change the brightness and contrast settings on the monitor itself. This is not usually done via software settings on the computer.

There should be some buttons on the monitor that will bring up an onscreen menu with the settings there.

Thanks

Hi! I am experiencing difficulty with the brightness on the screen of my GameBoy Color. Is there a way to adjust the screen brightness, so that it would be brighter? -Stine

Unfortunately, the Game Boy color has no backlight, so there's no way to make the screen any brighter. You can change the contrast, but that will only affect how dark things appear on the screen. Sorry.

My plasma TV screen just suddenly turned dark

Try adjusting the contrast or brightness in the settings to make it brighter. A lot of TV's differ from who to do this so look in your tv's manual or go to the manufactuar's website and download the manual as a PDF.

Contrast ratio of tft monitors

Contrast ratio is the ratio between black and white. So low contrast ratio (5000:1) means you can;t see the screen so well in a bright room (where there's a lot of sunlight) A higher contrast ratio (20000:1) means the screen is brighter so easier to see in bright rooms.

Pixel pitch refers to the distance between pixels. The lower the pixel pitch, the sharper the image

Strange silhouetting and a vertical strip

If A vertical strip appears on the screen when recording a dark background or the subject is blooming or silhouetting, you need to adjust the BLC. * The contrast between the subject and the background is too great for the camcorder to operate normally. * Make the background brighter to reduce the contrast or use the BLC function while you are recording in a brighter environment. BLC (Back light Compensation) * BLC works in CAMERA/M.REC mode.B * Back lighting exists when the subject is darker than the background: 1. The subject is in front of a window. 2. The person to be recorded is wearing white or shiny clothes and is placed against a bright background; the person?s face is too dark to distinguish his/her features. 3. The subject is outdoors and the background is overcast. 4. The light sources are too bright. 5. The subject is against a snowy background. 1. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 2. Press the BLC button. Normal - BLC - Normal BLC enhances the subject. Notes: * When NITE PIX to set to ON, the BLC function does not work. * The BLC function will not operate in EASY mode.
