Tried the headphone thing. Couldn't ever get it to work. It seems permanently stuck like this. Anyone know of a way to disable the headset jack altogether?

My girlfriend just had this same problem. She was talking to me on the phone on her drive home and diconnected the headset and it got stuck in headset node. I did this quick google search for her cuz she freaked out and tried taking the headset and kept plugging and unplugging the headset over and over again, repeatedly. It took a lot more than 10 times though and at a fairly rapid pace. Thanks!!!

i went to make a call, the phone dialed out but I could not hear the dial tone or the person on the other end,  the phone was silent.  I could receive calls but when I answered them I could not hear a thing.  I did even use the ear jack.  I get sound when I power up the phone and ringtone when I receive a call.  but no sound otherwise.  I also can not get the speaker  button to engage????

If you look in the bottom of the phone (where the charger plugs in) you will most likely see that at least 2 of the far right pins are bent over or bent to the side. This happened on my wifes phone. I found that if I took the data cable and plugged it into the phone on one end and nothing on the other, it would work. She is taking it to get a warranty replacement tomorrow.

When you plug the data cable in, you should here all of your normal sounds etc. It might trigger the voice command thing, but it usually only does it once.

This did it for me! I have had problems with the pins and charging my phone never occured to me it would have to do with the sound? THANK YOU SO MUCH

Thanks! Same problem - phone thinks there is a headset plugged in. I had been to 2 Verizon stores, and neither of them had a clue how to fix it. Found 1 or 2 pins on the right side were bent. I used a needle to move them back, and it works for now. At least maybe this will buy me some time to decide on a new phone.

Agreed, the problem does seem to be these pins, I would guess it's something to do with the charger moving them when placed and removed. Which would explain the issue if you've never used a headset. I bought a headset trying to fix this issue, I tried plugging and unpligging it with no result, I did hear sound through the headset, though it didn't fix it when I unplugged it. I was able to fix it by taking a fine sewing needle and carefully move these pins on the side, but if you do this proceed with caution as they are fragile. Hopefully this page helps, because I know the frusteration of trying to figure it out and fix it.

I've got an LG KM570 and I had the same problem as you guys. My phone "thought" that there's a headphone plugged in but there wasn't so the sound didn't work :S
I tried the plugging and unplugging method and it actually worked!! :D:D:D

This just happened to me and I read the posts below. It was the ear jack that had been mistakenly activated (I didn't use it, it just enabled and thought a headset was plugged in...) So - I plugged one in, and was able to make a call. I unplugged it, and the phone returned to normal. It was pretty easy to fix in my case. Good luck - hope this isn't common!

Headphones are only working in one ear.

This is a common problem. All stereo adapters will only play in the right ear. What you should do is send back the headset adapter and get a stereo headset that plugs directly into the 2.5mm jack, without going through an adapter. That should solve the problem.

you need to take the phone to a mobile service center and have them replaced the microphone and the ear piece.

Earjack

Yeah, I had the same problem. There isnt really a fix, but when you unplug the jack, make sure the speakers work, by turning on speakerphone (The little speaker symbol will appear) or try calling someone. If it isnt working just wiggle the jack in the port a little bit and try plugging and unplugging it. I just think the port gets stuck or something so it thinks that the jack is still in there when it isnt, thus leading to the speakers not working. This is a really annoying problem. Pretty poor design, but an easy enough fix I suppose.

Lg voyager. i can hear others but they cant hear me

you must have a broken mic, take apart the front of your phone and solder the wires from the mic on the bottom back to the leads then it will work again, if not send it to verizon if it is under a year old thay are obligated to fix it.
