Question about Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173 Notebook

1 Answer

Machine will not come on.

Machine was running fine. I probably made the mistake of doing an upgrade from MS. I was on the road and when MS told me to back up the system before continueing I aborted as I didn't have a way of backing up at the time...thought I would do it again later. As soon as I aborted, the screen went blank. Now when I turn on the machine all I get is the MS logo with the green box showing movement ....then off it goes for another round over and over. It never shuts off completely is my guess as I never see any of the items that would normally flash on the monitor. I guess you can tell I know very little about computers, so please, be gentle. First try pluging in a second monitor into the back and trun it on. I use a second monitor and often the screen put the pages over there.

second you may need more help the you can get here. take it to a repair shop and have it reloaded.

My CDs do not play in my new PC

Your new PC has not got the full soft ware. MS has been very clever and not put the software into the machine. You will have to buy an upgrade, or get a non MS music player there are many.

I have a Dell with windows 8 just upgraded to 8.1 my mail is harder to use and their is not much for upgrade for me on the start button since I have a touch screen. I want to get rid of windows 8.1 big...

You can restore to win 8 by downloading from the manufacturers site using your serial number. Otherwise, MS support may be able to revert you back to Win 8. But the best way, and the one most people never think about, would have been to create restore disks before installation. I would recommend making this a habbit in the future, if you did not do it this time.

Upgrade or purchase full version of Office 2007 Pro

With all instances of new software you must purchase a full version. I wish that you could get a dicount by turing in your old sofwares product key but that isnt the case. You must purchase full retail versions in order for everything to work as it should.

I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows 7 from XP. I hated Windows 7 so I returned to XP. Now my Epson stylus CX3810 will not load into my laptop. What do I do?

Remove the printer. The machine probably still has the WIN 7 driver. Reboot should load the driver or use the software that came with the printer. Updated drivers are on the EPSON website.

Run MS Vista on Dell 9100

The reason they told your daughter that is because either there isn't a powerful enough CPU and enough memory to support it and also there are no vista drivers for that laptop on Dell's website.

If you decide to put vista on that laptop your going to need to make sure that whatever hardware drivers vista doesn't detect, you'll need to search on the net to find vista compatible drivers if they are out there, it will be time consuming.

My recommendation from my own experience, make sure you have at least a 2GHz processor and 1GB or memory.

MS FlightSim is really tuff on the processor. You are better get a Quad Core Intel Processor, as no upgrade is possible for your Laptop. Also get a good graphic adapter, something like ATI Radeon 4850.

The BIOS will recognize the new ram when the pc is turned on. If the amount is being reported correctly and there are no beeps you are good to go.

Installing XP in a HP OmniBook XE3

Upgrades are probably limited on that machine except for a bigger hard drive.

512 should be enough.
