Question about Toshiba Satellite 1415-S173 Notebook

1 Answer

Machine will not come on.

Machine was running fine. I probably made the mistake of doing an upgrade from MS. I was on the road and when MS told me to back up the system before continueing I aborted as I didn't have a way of backing up at the time...thought I would do it again later. As soon as I aborted, the screen went blank. Now when I turn on the machine all I get is the MS logo with the green box showing movement ....then off it goes for another round over and over. It never shuts off completely is my guess as I never see any of the items that would normally flash on the monitor. I guess you can tell I know very little about computers, so please, be gentle. First try pluging in a second monitor into the back and trun it on. I use a second monitor and often the screen put the pages over there.

second you may need more help the you can get here. take it to a repair shop and have it reloaded.

I have a 2007 Ford focues I t idles fine. When you drive it down the road it will. Surge up & down then smooth it's self out while it's doing this it feels like your going over rumble strips

Just an off-beat thought that might be no use at all. I once made the mistake of running a similar car on a jack checking for a noisy wheel bearing. By doing that I managed to ruin the engine management settings with the result it not only didn't run well it became almost undriveable.

Ford told me to disconnect the battery for half an hour which had no effect but disconnecting overnight restored the basic programmed settings and it once again became a well-behaved car.
Later models might need diagnostic equipment to do this.

How to installing the windows 7 for dell desktop machine?

It depends. Assuming the machine is running XP now, do you want to keep anything on it, or are you fine with starting over? Also, what are the specifications (CPU, memory (RAM,) hard drive size and free space) on the machine?

If it's currently running XP, you probably have less than 4 Gb RAM and are running a 32 bit version. (Check by right clicking "My computer" and bringing up properties.) If you *really* don't know, most Dells have an Express Service Code on a tag on the machine - you can use that, paste it in on Dell's support site, and get the information from there.

The *best* way to do this, which will give the fewest problems and give the best experience, is to not upgrade but format the drive and just start cleanly. You should have the option to do this when you put the WIndows 7 DVD in and boot the machine. Be sure to save any data (documents, pictures and the like) from the current installation first, either onto disk or online services like Google Drive, MS Onedrive and the like. You *will* need to reinstall your programs, however.

Can i upgrade from outlook 2007 to 2010 and still use my other programs in office 2007 without a problem?

Hi there !

I you upgrade you Outlook 2007 to 2010, it will also upgrade all the MS office application because you will install the upgrade and it will change all from 2007 to 2010. Don't worry, all MS office 2007 will work fine in MS Office 2007. I upgrade my 2007 to 2010 also with no problem.

Good Luck

I am going to upgrade ram to 1 gb. can i use ddr2 1 gb ram to upgrade .motherboard is microstar model ms-6526 ver: 2 . present ram is ddr1 400 MHz, 512 MB

If your computer has two RAM slots on the motherboard, i would recommend trying it. The computer will run on the 512MB stick alone and just not recognise the other stick. And if it works it works.

I have searced for support documentation and came up with none for the original MS-6526

I run my original version MS-6526 on a 512MB PC2300 (DDR1) and a 512MB PC3200 (DDR1) and it runs just fine for games and videos.

Personally I would recommend trying the DDR2 first and if that fails, return the card and get a DDR1 card. They are expensive, but at least they work.

I have had a motherboard failure the MS-7357 (V1.X) Mainboard... needing upgrade thinking of the MSI G41TM-E43 LGA 775 Intel G41 will i have to mess arround with the power switches with the case as this...

Boards don't come with switches. The problem with company made computers is that they get a manufacturer to make a board especially for the case they make. They do this to specifically stop you doing what you are trying to do, upgrade a machine with a proprietary board in THEIR case. You will find trouble at the rear of the machine getting to sockets and plugs.

It is far better to buy a good case, and then you can swap out components with ease. The case that held my Asus boarded P4 with the first SATA drives now has an Asus Quad Core in it with SATA 2.

Roberto,
Well I can say its a socket 478 P4 and you can probably only upgrade to about a 2.4Ghz P4 , probably not much of an upgrade, better to build or buy a new PC for around $500-$600

I have a Windows me,and I was told i can't get Mcfee security unless i upgrade to Windows xp or Vista.Could you tell me the cost to do this?

For some people ME was great, for me it was ME= Mistake Emulator. XP has been the best platform Microsoft put out. I would recoment going to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316639/
follow the steps to see if your machine can handle it.
New computers are more affordable and come with Vista. Ocassionaly you can find one with XP. Look for the ones that say Xp - Vista ready. They have more memory and Hard drive space on them and XP runs great. If you want to upgrade. google the price for XP. Dirvers for your machine are the hardest part to find. Buying a XP-Vista ready computer would be the easiest route.

Unable to install ms office 2007, upgrading from Office 2003

Hi,
please first uninstall all the existing versions of MS Office. Then try to clean temporary files, cache and registry using tools like cCleaner (freely availavle), then install MS Office.

if you want to install only MS Office 2007, no need to install MS office 2003 and upgrade. directly install MS Office 2007.

If you want to keep both, pleas install MS office 2003 first, then MS office 2007, please dont uograde it, rather select Keep both version.

Please make sure that you have admin permission before doing all this and your system is free from any virus.
Thanks
