Sorry about not giving all details, toshiba acer aspire 5520 series. I went into Bios, I was unable to do recovery. It won't let me, spoke to someone on phone who stepped me back through bios, and still could not get comp. to do anything, it kept going back to blank screen. It's not quite a year old, I'm looking for receipts to see if there is any warranty coverage on it. Still can't find anything at this point.

Make and model would help. Also how were you running a recovery? From Partition or Disk?

If it's under a year old then you are under the MFG warenty still... However... they are going to be a pain in the rear (I don't like ACER support procedures at all). Be sure when/if you call them you have your serial number (the long one starting with LXA). But before we do this try the following...

    1. Turn the unit off

    2. Turn it back on (lol)

    3. While it is starting up as soon as you hit that power button press and hold that ALT key while tapping the F10 key at the same time.

    4. This should bring you to ACER E-RECOVERY MANAGEMENT

    5. it may ask for a password... the ACER default password is 000000

    6. follow the instructions and this should go through the system recovery.

    Hope this helps!

Did you try system restore? Thats the only thing I can think of that would help you get back your program.
Go to Run on the Start Menu, then type MSCONFIG and Launch System Restore...

Also here is a free Register cleaner you might also try.

It saids start up fails messing an wont repair it self

See if you can access the advanced boot options menu, power it up and keep pressing the F8 key to bring up the screen. If you can, select the option for Last Good Known Configuration. If this doesn't work, power down and this time (hit F8 again) try to select the Safe Mode. Safe Mode boot the system with minimal drivers. If you still can't access Window via Safe Mode then you will have to re-install Window with your recovery disc.

I power up comp but nothing happens..it just show blue and white screen thats says h.p nothing else

Hi,

Here are some trobleshooting steps that you can follow .

Turn the computer off and then disconnect all the external devices like (printer, usb devices etc)connected to the computer along with the cable for the internet .Then disconnect the cable for power that would be right on top at the back panel of the computer tower and with the power cable disconencted press and hold the power button for atleast 30 seconds.Turn the computer on if it takes you to the desktop then it means that there is some external device that is causing the computer not to come up to the desktop so find which deveice has gone bad check it by conecting one device at a time.

Next thing that you can try is turn the computer off and then when you turn the computer on or as soon as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard and then hit enter, select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then you can try doing a restore by going to start?all programs ?accessories?system tools and then system restore ? select the date when you think that you r computer was working fine and then click on next next to exit from the wizard.Should fix the issue .

If the computer does not boot up to the desktop then without wasting time on any trobleshooting steps recovery needs to be done that takes the computer back to its original factory settings. To do this instead of the f8 key tap the f11 key till you get the screen that says system recovery ,click next until you get the screen that has advance option ,click on it ?select destructive recovery ?click next the recovery will start and the computer will be formated (whatever you have added after you bought the computer would be lost ).If the recovery does not work this was then it needs to be done from the recovery disks and fot that you call call HP...

all the best

Black blank screen Lenovo 3000 N100

You say the laptop all of a sudden flashed off.

How old is the laptop? You may have suffered one of two things? First of all, if the hard drive will not boot back up, even after using the recovery discs, then that would explain it powering off. I have seen this happen on old desktop hard drives.

Next, try to get the transformer or adapter tested. It may not be putting out enough amperage to run the laptop.

Flashing the Bios is a LAST DITCH effort to resolve Hardware issues. You should NEVER flash the bios unless you are absolutely certain it's the correct bios for your computer, also NEVER flash bios from within windows..

There may however be a solution for you, Acer laptop computers with the Pheonix BIOS sometimes has a " flashback" feature, allowing you to revert to your original Bios..

You will need to contact Acer to get a Crisis Bios recovery disk from them. Or ask for further information on how exactly to recover from a bad bios flash.

Compaq presario 5000 not booting up right.

Does the Compaq logo appear when you try to start the computer? Try pressing F10 several times after turning on the power. This should start the "recovery console", which will give you some options for restoring Windows. If the recovery console doesn't start up, there is a good possibility that your hard drive or power supply module may be defective. In that case, you will probably need professional assistance to diagnose the problem.
