Make terrible noise when you click the lever to lover the back to use

If you were to use the vacuum fully upright, it is fine. When you click the lever to lower the back so that you can push/pull it, it makes horrible loud noise.

That means that your brush is locking up. Lay the vacuum on its front and tilt the foot back. Remove the sole plate and make sure nothing is blocking brush from spinning. Then make sure that the end caps of the brush are facing up or toward the back of the unit which ever way you look at it. If thats all fine there is something that is jamming your clutch. This is harder to remove and will probably need to be replaced. They are not that expensive as you can probably get it for 60 bucks.

Has no power

Does the switch feel like it "clicks" when you turn it on? might be a bad switch. If the motor went bad then it's lights out for that vac.

Replace belt

On that Eureka Canister, you're going to want to unscrew the cover on the base of the vacuum in order to gain access to the brushroll and belt. That vacuum takes a type EXT-U belt. Remove the brushroll and the old belt and stretch the new belt on using the brushroll. Click it into place and secure the cover back on.

Hi i am trying to find a manual for my eureka power paw model 8852..but have hand no luck finding out where you can get one..any where you know of i am in great falls, mt

You can download the owners manual from below site. About midway down the page, click on "Owner's Guide" tab. Right click on "Owner's Guide" and left click "Save Target As". Save to a file dedicated to your Vacuum.

Hoover makes terrible screaching sound when using upright.

It's most likely the bushings/bearings in the beater bar (roller). The beater bar cover is fairly easy to remove -- take it off and investigate. Could be that the roller only needs lubricating on the ends. Also, check the belt to see if it's intact or damaged.

Clean area thoroughly.

If this is not the problem, please, let me know.
