Slow performance caused by unnecessary programs???
My computer is running sloooooow. I want to uninstall some programs but am afraid that it will screw up the operations of Windows XP and my internet stuff. I noticed that I have a J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6 and also the same, but an update 9. I have a Java 6 Update 2, 3, and 5. Is it safe to uninstall J2SE 5.0 update 6 and Java Updates 2 and 3 to give me more free disc space?

Re: Slow performance caused by unnecessary programs???
If your computer is running really slow, have you thought about cleaning it with windows disk cleaner? If your computer is otherwise working normally and you haven't loaded any programs that your want within the last couple of days you can also clean up your restore points and save loads of disk space. To do this go to Start>programs>accessories>system tools> Disk cleanup and tick the boxes that you want to clean for example tempory files etc then click on the tab that says more options and clean up system restore, it will still keep your most recent restore point. It will ask you if you are sure that you want to do this, click ok or yes. If you haven't done this before it may take a long time to open while it is compressing old files and determine how much space you will gain. But be patient, the longer it takes, the more space you gain because it is locating files that can be deleted. I hope this helps.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

try to delete large file or free space your disk , you can see your CPU proccess in task manager if your cpu work 100 % ,that makes your laptop become slow , try to disable program on start up windows->run->msconfig disable program and then try to maintain your laptop performance with utilities like advance system care or tune up utilities , defrag your harddisk , if your laptop still slow , try to reinstall your OS if this happen , then your hardware have trouble
You will want to run this free program as soon as you download it. It will remove any viruses on your computer. This is a great tool to use about once a month to make sure your computer is clean. Do a full scan and wait for it to complete. If you have completed the steps above and still have the problem, you will need more RAM. RAM is temporary memory that your computer uses when it is on. If you have very low RAM, then you will have a very slow computer.
Try the following:
Go to download.com and search for a program called Ccleaner. Download and install this program, when you run it, it will clean out a lot of unnecessary files on your computer (internet cache/cookies/history files/etc) it also will clean areas like your temp directory, any unnecessary log files, temp files for any other installed programs, etc.
This program is also great for uninstalling unwanted programs and checking the registry for errors and fixing them. I personally uncheck all install options except having a desktop short cut and checking for updates to make the install quicker.
It's a neat little program and is free as well.
Registry is accessed by almostall the installed programs and your operating system itself. Why is computerslow and freezing has to do with the fragmented registry data. hiee.. if your pc runs slow and hangs during your work this might happen because of load on your pc and some unnecessary programs working in background so i recommend you to remove unnecessary programs. one more thing keep some space in the same partition in which your Xp is installed don't make it full. you can also remove some program from startup. you can also boostup speed by using some utility software.
1. Kill unnecessary programs, you can do it from task manager.
2. some program starts at startup of PC, they make PC slow, go to start>run, type msconfig and say ok, go to startup tab and the disable the programs which you do not want to start up during PC start up.
3. downloan CCCleaner and run it.
4. Keep C drive clean as possible, move as much items to other drive, less space on c drive can slow down you PC.
5. Many files placed on desktop can make it slow.
6. If you have low memory on your PC then you have to increase it.
7. Virus or Spyware can make pc slow do thorough scanning of your PC.
8. I suggest you to uninstall any programs which are not necessary.
