Question about Maytag Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a stackable maytag full size washer dryer with digital controls. The washer is not responding. It worked after turning it on and off and changing the settings, but after it started washing, when the tank was full of water it stopped and would not start again. is there anything that I can do from here?

Try first unpluggiing the appliance for ten minutes or so.

If you still have the problem, then it can be a faulty control panel, a faulty pump, inlet valve or a different part, depending on what part of the cycle it gets stuck.

If the cycle stops when the tub is full of water, that means that the problem is either with the timer control, with water heating, or with drain system.

Check if the water is being heated regularly, if not check the hot water power supply, or in this case, as this is a washer with dyer/water heating system, have the heating element tested and eventually replaced by a technician.

If the water is heating, but the washing machine is getting stuck with the tub full of water, and does not drain, then check the drain sysltem. Ispect and eventually unlock the drain hose. If the drain hose is fine, check the drain pump.

If the machine fills the tank abnormally, with water getting up to the top, and eventually leaking out, then what is faulty or stuck is the floating sensor called water level switch, or a defective inlet valve.

If you do not find any of the faults listed above, then the it is probably the control panel to be replaced.

Here you find a generic diagram for washing machines, browse the mouse on top of the pictures to identify the parts descripted here in my comment:

I had the same problem, take the easy rout first and check for obstructions in your venting. Mine was clogged and it shut itself down (to protect itself?)

Maytag stackable w/d

Yes, it is inside the front washer lower front panel. Turn off poawer to unit and change w/ 1Amp 250V (regular of slow-blow). Then try only opening washer lid door with full dial pushed in (that would be the 'off' position. Only open/close lid w/ dial in off position. If washer works normally, may have a temp solution. Mine started this way, but ultimately the double relayed door lid switch was going bad and I had to replace it. Instructions/pictures below. Good Luck

Maytag Washer/Dryer stackable

well i am having about the same problem, but mine won't even fill, the dryer works but the washer won't fill or turn on at all. my husband had it all apart, too the control assembly to parts place and they said that hardly ever goes bad so it is still sitting unusable with no answer or money to spend on it in site.
