First, check all of your speakers and speaker wires for shorts and/or grounds. If they all check out, try resetting your deck. If that doesn't work, you probably have a bad output ic inside of the deck.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty

i have a kenwood kdc-241 car stereo and it has gone onto protect mode i have done everything it says in the manual and even taken it out of the car just in case it was damp i have tried putting it back in but still is in protect mode can anyone help me please
When these units go into protect mode, they normally have a blown channel. It is not an easy fix, it will require the replacement of a few parts. You would need a multimeter and soldering equipment to determain which parts need to be replaced.
If you would like to fix it yourself let me know and I can help you with it, but it would not be an easy job for you unless you have some experience at troubleshooting electronics.
The most common reason for an amp to go into or remain in protect mode is shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible causes, read through the following page. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Turn the reciever on for a second or two and then off before the protect mode shows up on the monitor. Repeat this step about five times and check to see if the reciever does not go into protect mode. If it does go into protect mode try it again. Dont know if this is the proper way to fix the reciever but it worked for me. Good Luck
Is it doing this while you have it turned right up? Most systems have protect mode because you are trying to draw to much power or amps through them. Are you trying to run to many or to large of a speaker through them all systems have rate output if you try to exceed this they go into protect mode so you don't blow the amp.
