Question about Toshiba (P000204210) Motherboard

1 Answer

No BIOS activity

I tried to update my laptop chipset, after the reboot, the power stays on but there all other activities have stoped.

When I push the power button the screen stays black. I notice the DVD light tray stays on for a while and goes off, thats all the computer will do.

I can't activate the onboard LAN Eternet on the P4P800S-X motherboard

Have you got the the chipset drivers installed?
If 'yes', and you have also got the lan drivers installed, then in BIOS settings, make sure the 'onboard lan' isn't set to 'disabled'

You press the Power On button. This in turn presses against the Power On switch,

http://www.directron.com/atxswitch.html

Closing the Power On switch, (Pressing the Power On button), activates the Soft Power On feature of the Power Supply.

The Power Supply comes on.
The first chipset to receive power is the BIOS chipset.

The BIOS program looks to see what devices are installed, does a Ram Memory count, turns the Processor on, and hands the computer over to the Operating System. (Windows)

BIOS will come up even with the Processor not installed. Does need the Ram Memory, though.

Post back what you mean by, "I have checked HDs...."

Do you have more than one harddrive in a RAID configuration?

Have you used a program like Memtest to check the Ram Memory?
(Sometimes it's as simple as cleaning the contact pins, on the Ram Memory modules, with a pencil eraser. Doesn't take much corrosion to make a bad contact )

Replaced the CMOS battery? Yes, sounds inane, but that watch style battery can mess up a lot of things.

Open the BIOS (press Del or whatever key on the keyboard activates the BIOS over and over as soon as you turn on the computer) look for the option to enable the onboard sound device in the menu the save and reboot (usually F10). Have Windows install the driver by going to Windows Update.

Hello, You need to right click on to my computer>Manage>choose disk management, you should format the new SATA HDD there.

If that will work for you that is good but if not, i thing you should updated the BIOS and you have to make sure that you get that update to MSI website. if you are not familiar w/ that asked some one who know how to flash BIOS. it is risky if you are not familiar doing BIOS update!!!

this appears to be related in the BIOS. try to update the BIOS and disable the onboard video card from there if an option is available, then install the video card again and install the latest video driver for it compatible with your operating system

The sound drivers won't install and no sound device is detected by the system.

Check in the BIOS if the onboard audio is detected and activated. If it is then power cycle it: disable, reboot, reboot, enable it - that should force Windows redetect it.

You may want to check for BIOS updates.
I have a P4C800E from ASUS and had simular problems after a system reload.
Also, you may want to check you power settings and disable the hibernation settings.
