My phone seems dead although the computer connection and the fax are working. Help!

First try a new phone cord and a different phone. Are all items attached to one jack with one phone number? If you have multiple jacks, check if the phone works on another jack. If you have separate phone lines, check if the phone works on the computer/fax line. Check if the phone works without the other devices (particularly if daisy chained). Swap out all of the cables in the chain if it works directly.

In the multiple line case, if your phone works on one line and not the other, check if a phone works on that line at the incoming service. (If you are lucky, the incoming service has RJ-11 connections and you can test this yourself. Otherwise, you'll need a service person.) I've had several cases where mice or something broke one of two incoming phone lines outside so I just lost that one phone number. If the outside service doesn't work, call your phone company. They will fix it for free. If the outside service works, check your jack for loose wires. Check any exposed wiring in the house for damage. If the wiring isn't damaged in the exposed areas or at the jack, you'll probably need a service call (for a fee).

Checking the jack and wiring also applies if the phone works at one jack and not another.

If another phone works and the AT&T phone doesn't, check if the power adapter is plugged in and warm or cold. If the power brick is cold, then replace the power supply. The information on the type of power supply is usually listed on the bottom of the phone. Since this is a corded phone, it should work even without power, but sometimes, it won't. If the power is good to the phone, then replace the AT&T phone. Unless it's under warranty, it isn't worth getting them serviced. They aren't meant to be user serviced.

I hope this helps.

Ok im trying to transfer my work phone to my cell phone so i can go home and not have to sit up here all night. and i cant figure out how to do it.

  1. Pick up the receiver on your work phone and wait to hear a dial tone.
  2. Dial *72 on your work extension phone keypad. You may hear a series of four beeps that indicates the system is ready for you to enter the phone number to which your calls will be forwarded.
  3. Enter your cell phone number including the area code on the keypad of your work extension phone.
  4. Hang up the receiver on your work phone.
  5. Test the call forwarding by dialing your work extension phone from another phone. Your cell phone should ring. If it does not ring , repeat Steps 1 through 4.

My 2 year old sister threw my kyocera X-tc phone in the pool 3 days ago. The first thing I did was dry it off and take the battery out, I dried the battery and the phone again, and put the battery in. I...

Hello, There is still water inside the phone that's why some part are still working and some not working yet.

What to do is this,

Unscrew the phone,
Get a Methylated spirit and a brush,
Bring out the board of the phone and use the methylated spirit to brush off remaining water on phone.
Keep under heat to dry off,
After board is dried, fix it back and screw back phone.

Am sure after doing this phone will work well.
But if phone still doesn't work ,that means water has damage some component inside the phone.
You will need to consult a phone technician for assistance.
Take care.

I don't get a dial tone when I pick up the phone both the base and the extention both are dead but I have a fax machine also on another line and it works ok

to test the phone system. unplug the phones that are not working from the telephone jack. Install a phone on that phone jack that you know works (an old one or a cheap new phone). If the new phone works on the phone line in question, then your cordless phones are the problem and not the house phone line. If you plug the known working phone into the wall and it now does not work, then you have a problem with the wall outlet or the connection to the house. If it is a phone line or house connection problem, call your phone company. If it is your cordless unit, try them at a different phone outlet or at some other house to see if they work anywhere.

Speaker won't work when answering phone normally.

try to custom reset the handset

*2767*2878#

& . OR

*2767*3855#

this will erase ur contacts on the phone and perhaps sms;s too that are stored on the phone memory, but it may just make the speaker work too.
if it stil fails, change the flex connector and ur phone speaker will work fine.

Vintage phones cannot dial out

Any standard phone should work, even phones made in 1800's should still work on a standard phone line.

I'm not sure what phone you have. The one listed in the question "M7310" is a business system phone and will ONLY work on the Nortel business phone system.

If you have standard home phones, my only suggestion (using the information supplied) is to check if the Tone/Pulse switch is set to tone... even though both should work.

Do you have phone service through a cable line?

My phone does'nt work

Be sure both the line cord and the handset cord are plugged in. If they are, plug a working phone into the dead phone's modular wall outlet. If it works, assume the problem is with the dead telephone. Try plugging the dead phone into a working outlet. If it works there, its cord or modular plug may be making a poor connection with the first modular receptacle. Switch cords with the working phone and try again. If it works, replace the cord. If it doesn't work with a good cord, plugged into a working outlet, the phone is probably defective. Further isolate the problem by substituting the handset from a working phone. If it works, repair or replace the dead phone's receiver. If it doesn't, repair or replace the entire phone. Be sure the switch hook isn't stuck down or jammed.
