You could buy a new universal power adapter and when you are running it off the mains remove the battery as it will continually charge and burn out.

I cant get my Toshiba Equium to work off the mains. I have had it on charge over night to try and boost the battery but it went into hiberate and wont restart or work. Is there a switch that I have turned...

No switch on the laptop that does this there is a powerboard on this model that can burn out if left on charge and machine goes into hybernate it is repairable normaly price of about £70 take it to a local laptop repair shop near you and they should be able to do it
(source)
The repair shop i own has had a few of these normally after the repair gets done the battery will need replaced aswell or just run it off the power without a battery

Problem with Toshiba Equium Laptop which is switching itself off. even when connected to mains supply Is this a problem with the switch or power supply? Hope you can help thanks

If the laptop shuts down and won't boot up straight away, then the problem could be an overheating CPU problem. It could be a faulty fan and/or the fan and heatsink assembly is clogged with dust.
Check the fan and if it has stopped spinning then replace it and if the fan and heatsink is clogged with dust, loosen the dust and remove it.

Toshiba replacement power cable

Sounds like you bought a generic replacement item. The laptop has circuitry to detect which adaptor is connected to it. If it detects that the adaptor is not capable of charging and operating at the same time, it will act accordingly. The adaptor has a power rating in watts. That number must be equal to the original or greater to work properly.

Toshiba satellite pro a200 The laptop has stop recharging, i don't know if its the battery or the adapter or the actual laptop with the problem? please help!!!

First do not remove battery and use charger only. Lets start at the beginning first if you are using a UK three point plug check the fuse in the plug. Next some adaptors have a small green light on when connected to the mains. Another way to check the adaptor is, if you no someone with a multi meter (used to check voltages etc) get them to check if there is a reading from the end you plug into the computer should read 19volt. That would check your charging adaptor. Battery well if adaptor is charging then it is almost likely to be your battery.
If you have to replace the battery take it with you when you go for the replacement and ask them to check it in another laptop if they wont do this go elsewhere.
By what you say you have a fault with the adaptor.
Good luck

It has only been 2 and a half months sinse i bought my toshiba equium A300D series laptop. Once i have fully charged my laptop i only have a hour to use until it needs charging again. I never had this...

this happens to every laptop after a while, although after only 2 months it should be ok, you may need to send it back under guarantee, but remember you will have more things running now then when you first had it, using more processor power and also any usb peripherals youve added also shorten battery life.
