Question about Logitech MX 5000 (967558-0403-R) Keyboard and Mouse

1 Answer

MX 5000 Duplicate Characters

I have an MX 500 KB and mouse. Using them on a Dell Inspiriron 6400 laptop with Kensington dock.
When I type a character (normally after the KB has been idle) the first character I type will be duplicated.
Any suggestions for fixing this frustrating problem?

Plug in directly to the USB port and avoid the use of KVM switches, Y-adapters and such. See here:

How to fix the at button on a keyboard

Usually you cannot "Fix" a keyboard as it's in the way they are made, if faulty the only option is replacement. However it may simply be a codepage thing make sure you have the correct keyboard selected, usually US, as other types will substitute other characters instead of the @ symbol?

Welcome to Fixya

This is a common issue for this computer. Check the properties of the touchpad by going to control panel then click mouse. Go to mouse properties then look for option that says "TAP OFF WHEN TYPING". Put a check mark on that box to enable it. Press ok then restart the computer and obeserve the issue. Please see picture below.

I just bought a new Inspiron laptop, as well as a Kensington USB docking station and a Dell WM311 wireless mouse. I can't get the mouse to work at all, and can't get the docking station to work properly...

Closing the lid of most laptops sends a signal to put the machine in hibernate or sleep mode. You can either leave the lid open or change the power savings settings. In Win 7, this is in the Control Panel but can also be reached from the advanced power savings settings from the Screen Saver. Click on the desktop (anywhere without an icon or running program) and select Personalize. Click on the Screen Saver and then Change Power Settings. Then Change Plan Settings (look for the line Advanced Plan Settings and the section marked Power Button and Lid).

I don't know enough to help you with the mouse problem. I'd check the batteries for the mouse first. Then ask Dell.

I wish that I could be of more help.

Unable to log onto computer keyboard double spacing and double ch

Try a different keyboard, if a different keyboard works properly then your original one is defective. If another keybaord does the same thing then its a setting in the operating system for the keyboard that needs to be changed.

Logitech MX3200 Wireless keyboard connects but prints garbage

Yes, I have a solution. Throw the bugger away! This has been the biggest piece of garbage I have ever bought. It has loads of unecessary features like using the buttons for other things. I am sick of it asking me if I want to assign an action to a key. I want a bog standard wireless keyboard. Yes, I'll assign an action alright. I'll throw it through the bloody window!!!!!!
