Proper wiring my hp pavilion p6 2330pc and my hp printer

1) DO NOT connect printer to computer!

2) Put the Installation Disk for the printer, in the optical drive of your computer. (Comes with the printer)
If you do not have this disk, post back in a Comment.

You will download the software from HP Support.
I need the printer model name, and model number.
Also what Windows operating system you are using.

(It cannot be assumed what Operating System you are using.
May not be the one that came with the computer)

If you have the Installation Disk, load ALL software.
(One example; HP Photosmart Full Feature Software & Drivers)

[Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

The device is the Printer. The O/S wasn't stated.

The Full Feature software covers all the software the printer needs.
If it is a unit that can Scan, Copy, Print, and Fax, for example;
all of that software will be loaded ]

ONCE the software is loaded, restart your computer if not asked.
After Windows has loaded again, let the computer run for a few minutes.

Now restart the computer.
(WinXP example; Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart)

Plug the USB cable from the printer into the computer.
Turn the printer on.

After a few seconds you should get a pop-up in the taskbar,
"Found new hardware device"
And perhaps another one,
"Found HP XXXXX device "

(X's stands for model name/number of printer)

IF,.......you have connected the printer FIRST, then attempted to install software -> This = NO.

You can get a driver conflict.
Post back in a Comment if this is what you have done.

[When a device (Printer in this case), is connected, Windows 'breaks it's neck' to find suitable, matching drivers.

If THE drivers are not there, Windows will pick from it's THOUSANDS of generic drivers.

Now you you install THE drivers needed, and there is a driver conflict;

Windows: "Which ones do I use? These or THESE?" ]

Post the printer model name, and model number. This can be found on the Back of the printer.

(This is the type of USB cable end, that usually plugs into a printer,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_connector#Cable_plugs_.28USB_1.x.2F2.0.29

Type B. It is also a Male plug. So it's a USB B Male.

Square shape with two corners cut off.

The USB A Male connector is the one that plugs into the computer.
(Type A)

Rectangle shape )

Can not load the printer drivers on Compaq Presario SR1403WM Desktop PC message says it can recognize device the device is plugged in I am trying to load Lexmark 8300 printer I have disk but it stops...

Hi,

Don't think you need to worry about a internal computer problem at the moment. Chances are that it is a dodgy disk.

First thing to do is to download the driver file fron the manufacturer's website. The fact that it detected your printer suggests that it is not likey to be a connection issue.

If you download the driver and it still does not detect the device, disconnect the printer, restart the PC, then run the installation program that you downloaded and then connect the printer when prompted.

If this does not work, suggest you try a different usb port in your computer and try again.

Finally it could be a software problem so you could recover the pc back to its factory settings with your recovery discs. Only when that does not work should you think about it being a printer or pc hardware problem.

Note that you could try connecting the printer to a different pc to test whether it is the pc or printer at fault.

Hope that helps - pls rate the solution

Using aol computer check up .. i get reply that hard disk is almost full.. one click fix provided does not resolve problem .. what alternatives are available ? thank you hkensky@aol.com

From my-computer right click on on hard-disk / properties this will show you how much free space available. Windows has system tools to check your hard disk for problems, like scan disk, disk cleanup, and disk defragmenter. Click start/hellp and support for more info. If you don;t find what you need let me know. Larry

Could you help me put my lexmark 1200 onto my computer i have windows vista

You need to run installer software from printer disk, before connecting the printer usb to computer.

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file, double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

Need start up disc for printer

you don't need a startup disk for a printer.. starup disks are needed for computer but not for printers..
what you may need is the disk for your printer which very likely may have the drivers for your printer..
and since we're not mind readers..you may want to post the model of your printer and brand and we'll help you finding the driver and programs that you need to make your printer work.. (if avaliable online)

Install printer without using disk, because disk drive is broken.

What Operating System on your computer do you have, what is the Manufacturer and Model of your printer and how is it connected, parallel cable, USB cable, or Network.

This information is needed to provide the most useful help.

If you search online for the driver for the specific model of printer download and install it should generally get a printer working. Though without the information above I cannot say this for sure because of the many different types of printers and the ways they can be configured.

Printer won't connect

I think you need to press on the (Have a Disk) button and install your printer cd - which came with the package - into the CD-Drive

when you open your CD-Directory, the needed info file will be automaticlly selected, all you need to do is pressing (open) button and then (next) from the printer installing wizard.

Hope that was helpful.

My printer keeps saying that it is not communicating with the computer. I have a new computer, and a lexmark 3440 all in one printer. it says to enable biarectional commmunication setting in poper dialog....

ahh..a talking printer..nice upgrade..

do you have a current driver(other than the one that came on the disk, which MAY be obsolete)..

get a new one here(click on printer drivers and find the icon for Lexmark). then enter model number and find driver for your operating system.

un plug printer from computer..re install software. plug in printer as directed.
