My camera just shows a black screen and the orange light flashes

I have 2 xelim camaras. One of which has a piece of some type of cover partially obstructing the view. This camara still displays the time and menus and older pictures. If I take pix now the picture is obscured. The other camara has no picture on the display but when I take a picture it turns out just fine. That camara will need disassembled and a connector hooked back up

Most screens on digital camaras are for aiming the camara and output (displaying the picture) therefore any problems with the screen do not translate to a picture.

Try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Get an estimate of the repair cost and then decide whether to get a new one or not.

If you can take things apart without damaging things...then it may be possible to fix. I have had mine apart several times, and the slider on the outside, switches a mini micro slider inside. It has to be lined up with the tabs...dropping it may have caused it to jump the slots.

I gave the lense part of the camara a moderate slap, and the camara has worked fine since. looks like a lot of people have the same problem. Most of the people call it black screen problem. the shutter gets stuck. Tap it a few times on the side of the lense part of the camara moving it from bright to dark objects back and forth.

It is possible you have the display turned off... Some cameras allow you to do this to save battery.

OK, as crazy as it sounds, give the came a few good whacks on the side. It seems like there's internal problems, but it got my camera working. Do I get my money now?
