Acer 5101 hard drive upgrade query

I plan to upgrade my laptop hard drive from 60GB to 160GB does anybody know whether it will support this. I read somewhere that the limit for some laptops was 137MB. Hard drive is PATA type.I was thinking of using a Samsung HM160HC drive - would this be suitable.

Hi i m hems i m upgrading hard disk on my ( acer aspire 1641nwlmi ) laptop hard disk is 160 gb but it's not detecting my new hard disk , my new hard is ok but i have quistion 160 gb is supporting my laptop...

The Aspire 1641 is supplied with a 80Gb hard drive. If the new 160Gb hard drive is not detected in the BIOS then the BIOS cannot support this size hard drive.
Check your manual/specification to see the maximum size hard drive it can support.
You can install the 160Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.

Toshiba Tecra A2. Hard drive upgrade fail

sounds like something is shorter out, does the old hard drive have a plastic sheet over the 'exposed' part? If yes, transfer it to the new hard drive.

S6120 didn't take 250GB memory

hi Barch

every processor has three types of buses.
  1. address bus
  2. data bus
  3. control bus
The size of address bus is responsible for the number of memory locations a processor can access.

The size of address bus is fixed for each processor.

Your processor can address that many memory locations only through its address bus.

That is why anything more than the limit of memory location is waste.

Thank You
