Sorry fellah, sounds like you've pulled the wire loose from one side. Unless your comfortable with pulling it apart and finding the break in the line, you are going to have to sink the money into a new set. Of course you could always try returning the unit with a reciept.

buy new headphones?. i think a lot better than trying to repair it. it sounds like you are talking about where both earbud wires come together at the molded connector part that splices the wires together. unless you are mechanically inclined and electrically astute, you should just replace the
The two copper wires on your headphones are independent grounds for each channel. Twist them together and attach them to the ground cable ( black) of the new plug. The colored wires of the headphone correspond to the live wires of each channel, and the plug should have the same colors. Wiring together the grounds will not affect in any way the stereo separation, it is just that each ear needs its own ground. Cheaper headsets just transfer the ground from one ear to the other one through the metal headband.
If your headphones are in warranty (under a year old) Bose will repair or more likely replace them with a new pair. I am now on my forth pair or Bose in-ear headphones and experienced the same problem with an ear piece stop working. I have to say Bose customer service has been fantastic and has replaced each pair. Every new pair is then covered by a new full years warranty. Unfortunately my fourth pair has just gone wrong with the same connector problem. Bose again have said they will replace as they are in warranty. I have been told if they are out of warranty they will offer a new pair at a discount price of £50 instead of £80. However i think that if my new pair go wrong out of warranty i will have no option but to look at alternatives.A Pair of headphones that cost £80 should last more than a year!!!
Make sure the plug is fully seated in the playback device. Try plugging the headphones in a friend's .mp3 player. If the problem persists, your headphones are probably bad and will need to be replaced.
The left/right problem could be a bad connection on the red/white XBOX cables. Check to see that they're plugged in properly and not loose. You can also try plugging an MP3 player into the red/white jacks to see if the problem is with the headset or the XBOX. If it works ok with your MP3 player, then the headset is working fine.

Have you tried using your X1 with an iPod or MP3 player? Try that, and if you hear sound through both sides of the headset from the MP3 player, then the problem is in the "Stereo Splitter Cable", which can be replaced. But if you only hear sound out of the left ear from the MP3 player, then the headset is probably broken and you should contact Turtle Beach tech support at email@example.com.
I have this problem all the time with my JVC earbuds. This may sound a little gross but it will work. I put the ear phone in my mouth and **** on the end of it pretty hard. What I have found is that sweat or even wax will plug the little hole and prevent the sound from coming out.
