Question about ITT Night Mariner 160 Monocular

1 Answer

Flickering & power off

I have a night mariner in excellent cosmetic condition that works, sort of. It comes on and gives a great picture. But, at the same time, the image flickers... not totally off and on but just flickers... about one or two times a second. The flickers are fast and irregular, like 1/2 second, then 1 second, etc. Then after a few minutes, the entire instrument powers itself off. If you turn it back one, it will do it all over again. Batteries are fresh. Thanks Al Jennings

Seems to me that you have a failing power supply. Suggest you contact ITT warranty repair dept.

Does your camera server have a VGA monitor? Try that first and see if the picture is OK there.

I have a moonlight nightvision andthe red light comes o n but the picture is not coming in to veiw

Roll the batteries once installed to rub through any oxidation on contacts and on batteries. If it does not remedy it, you may need to look closer at the condition of the wiring.

Will not power on

Hello, these ITT Night Mariner 160 monocular are almost impossible to work on. To make them water proof every joint, hole, cap are epoxyed on. Check the internet and look for companies that manufacture materials that will desolve epoxy cement and even better stuff is that it makes the epoxy really soft for it can be removed. Sorry dude I couldn't be more help. stewbison

Not sure if this applies, but this is on the Morovision site: Because of the manufacturing processes, all night vision image tubes will have different cosmetics such as small spots or specs, photocathode coloring, or a chicken wire effect from the microchannel plate. Most cosmetics are only noticed during viewing in high light situations such as viewing with the daylight filter on in a lit room. Most cosmetic blemishes are not noticeable during normal nighttime operation but may still be seen to some degree in certain situations. These cosmetics in no way effect the performance of the image tube and do not decrease the ability to perform nighttime tasks.
