Question about Panasonic (ETLAE900) Projector Lamp for PT-AE900U

Panasonic PT-AE900u no image

Hi:

I have a panasonic PT-AE900U projector whose bulb works fine but no image appears on the screen even with a source conencted -- I can't even get the menu to appear. It looks like it's in "shutter" mode and may be stuck there for some reason. I've called Panasonic Tech Support and they suggested I try resetting it -- which I did. Nothing. Before I send it in for repairs, any ideas of what it might be?

Your suggestion of unplugging the projector and waiting 4 hours, as well as removing the batteries from the remote unfortunately did not work. Anything else I can try?

How to replace the lamp for Panasonic projector

If you bought a lamp from eBay then its most likely not a real brand bulb. The PT-AE1000 uses an ET-LAE1000 lamp that should have an Osram, Philips or Matsushita brand bulb. If you do not see PVIP, M or UHP on the bulb then its most likely your problem. Cheap lamps are not worth the money. They fail early and end up costing you more money in the long run. These folks sell lamps that always work. I would return the eBay lamp and buy one that will work. Their support and customer service are one of the best in the industry.

Our projector (Panasonic PT AE900U) is still working but the picture seems very dark all of a sudden. we are wondering if this means we need to replace the bulb and if so, what do we replace it with.

You need a new lamp. Cost is around $350. The following site shows replacement:

My new lamp from Opto Lamps has a plastic tab on the top stopping the cover from closing, do I have to brack this off?

I had the exact same issue with my new Panasonic PT-AE700u bulb. I contacted the company I purchased it from and they authorized the removal of the tab. I used my Dremel tool to slice it off and the bulb ended up working like a charm.

If everything else fits fine...the door just doesn't close, check with the company you purchased the bulb from and see what they recommend. This sounds like a common issue with "OEM" or "Original" bulbs these days.

Panasonic PT-L701e - colour fault, blacks are blue with lines

Can you connect a computer (vga) signal to this projector? I'd like to know what your "white" computer screen does on the projector....example, Excel spreadsheet....

I am leaning towards these problems, a bad video card...or worse delamination of one of your LCD panels and possible polarizer burn in the optical engine.

Steve

PANASONIC LCD PROJECTOR MODEL # PT-AE900U

The manual says that it will do this as a reminder that it has ended the recommended lamp life (on mine PTAE900E this starts at 2700hrs and supposedly can blow from then until the max of 3000hrs)

sounds scary enough i guess but they put that 10minutes on/off thing in there to kinda force you to get it changed...

mine is at 2600 anyone know of a good place to get a new lamp in melbourne australia?

cheers dave
