Question about Hoover Vacuums
I had exactly the same problem.there were no burning smells coming from it so nothing seemd obvious.I then took it apart and checked that all wires were connected, which they were. Then decided to check the plug. After replacing the fuse I chopped the cable of (as it is a seald plug) and connected up a new one.Hey Presto,Henry was alive again.Hope this helps.

Same here. Took mine apart and found the electrical contacts which carry power from the outside to the reel (which spins when you pull out the cable), had broken.
You can buy new ones on ebay for £5
However the tracks which they touch are a bit burnt on mine so this will need cleaning up too.
I'll know more about this when I fit them.
