Question about Rinnai Toyostove Direct Vent Heater: Toyostove Laser 73 Shipping

1 Answer

Toyostove Laser 73 EE2

Flame comes on during startup. Shortly after the code flashes (EE 2) and unit shuts down. Cleaned strainer monthly as recommended by manufacturer. Also disassembled fuel sump to check for debris and found nothing. Blew out orifices in pump and line to burner with 40psi air. I have two units and the other works fine.Still having no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

This unit had been working fine.

Clearing the flame rod of carbon deposits did the trick. Pnutgllry is the man. I figured since I only use clear K-1 I would not have the build up. I could see through the glass that this spring (if not sooner) I will need to disassembled the fire box for cleaning. Is there a website for purchasing parts for these heaters? I would assume new gaskets are needed to keep dangerous vapors from leaking into the living spaces, and I may need a burner ring.

Not having a cleaning in the last couple years may be the problem. Carbon build up in the burner pot and on the flame rod (a chain of carbon) will cause the flame to not be sensed. Then the flame will burn out. A temp solution would be to unplug the stove, then unscrew and jiggle the flame rod to break the chain. When tightening the screws do not over tighten. You could also try hitting the edge of the pot to see if you can knock the carbon loose. You could also have a warped burner ring which would cause problems keeping the stove running.

It's hard to find places on the web that sell parts. Someone on Ebay sells a kit which contains all the gaskets you need but the kit may contain more then you need. Look for stores locally that sell Toyos. They should carry replacement parts. You may be able to call them and place an order on the phone. The rural energy website should have directions how to clean your stove.

After my stove runs about two cycles, it shows E E 2. we relight and it ignites and then shuts back down with the error message. The tank is full, no air in the fuel line or filter. suggesations?

Has this unit been serviced. Sounds like the Flame Sensor is dirty and not sensing flame OR this actually isn't any flame due to an ignitor or fuel issue. Here is a complete explanation and diagnosis of the EE2 problem: Toyostove Error Code EE2

Stove shuts down and code ee 2 or ee6 comes up , what is my promblem.

Probably a fuel flow problem. Does the pump start making a loud thumping sound before the heater cuts off. Check the fuel filter and the strainer in the fue sump. Turn off the fuel at the barrel before removing the fuel strainer. Also check the flame sensor. Unplug the heater before attempting to remove the flame rod because it may burn out the circuit board if it touches metal with the heater plugged in. Use some steelwool or fine sandpaper to clean it if it is dirty. Another possibility with the EE-6 is that it is overheating, however, since you are getting EE-2 also I would suspect that fuel is the problem. Another thing to check would be the fuel nozzle. It can sometimes get clogged with carbon deposits. Let me know what you find if this doesn't fix it.

Laser 73 will not have ignition , it has fuel it start with a green light and in about 3 to 4 mintues the fan start to run then i get a error 2

ee 2 is the code for no ignition. This can be caused by a dirty fuel filter or dirty fuel strainer. The flame rod may need to be cleaned. The igniter may be burned out. Could also be a circuit board problem. If the fuel pump makes a loud ticking or thumping noise then it is a fuel flow problem and I would check the filter and strainer first. When checking the flame rod be sure to unplug the heater first.

Lost manual stove is blinking code ee2

EE2 usually has to do with fuel flow but could also be a dirty flame rod which can be cleaned with some steelwool. You should check your filter and also the strainer in the heater. Have something to direct the kerosene that will come out of the strainer into a bowl or something or just have some rags or paper towels ready. You can find the owners manual at www.toyostove.com.

Getting code EE 2 on a laser 73 toyostove that runs on kerosene

EE 2 usually has to do with the fuel. Does the heater make a loud ticking or thumping sound? That's the sound the fuel pump makes when its not getting any fuel. Check your filter, check the strainer in the fuel sump. Depending on how cold it is any water in the fuel line could be frozen blocking the fuel flow. You might also check the flame rod for soot. It can be cleaned with some steel wool.(nitensheaterservice@embarqmail.com)

I have a Toyostove Lasr 73 which started complaining of an EE 2 (ignition failure) on startup just this morning. The fuel lifter seems to be working and I can smell a bit of kerosene in the heater, so I...

An EE 2 message can mean 2 things
Ignition never happened or unit did not sense flame
You should see the Igniter glow through the peep window during
pre-heat, easy er to see with front cover off.
If you do see a glow and flame happens, but unit still errors out.
Try to clean flame rod sensor.
Unplug unit.
Single white wire going to burner pot. (pull straight down)
2 screws hold a plate
Turn sensor to 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock position
pull sensor out easily
Clean sensor with sandpaper- down to shiny metal
Good Luck

here is the problems associated with code EE02.
problem cause solution
no ignition: out of fuel check fuel gauge or tank, refuel

fuel tank valve closed open valve turning clockwise

air pocket in fuel line push reset button on the fuel sump, located right inside .

clogged flue pipe clean flue pipe

clogged fuel strainer clean fuel strainer

ignitor,circuit board, consult dealer
flame sensor, or fuel
pump malfunction.

it sounds like it may be a clogged strainer located in fuel sump or a bad circuit board hope this helps

Laser 73, burner lites, then green yellow red lights all flash for about a minute then unit shuts down ee-2

I was told all lights flashing means the pot is flooded. Unplug your heater. Take take the cover off. Unscrew the igniter and pull it out. Roll up a piece of paper towel, put it in there and see if it absorbs any fuel.

You could also be in need of a cleaning. If your burner pot is full of carbon, a chain of it will attach itself to the flame sensor rod, thus putting out the fire. Also if your burner ring in the burner pot is too warped this will put the flame out.

EE2 code for toyo 3

What Does EE2 Mean? Laser 30, 56, and 73 model Laser heaters cease operation and display
the EE2 code on the control panel (instead of the clock or temperature settings) when the primary
flame rod on the heater fails to sense a flame during the first 5 minutes of the Ignition and Pre-
Heat cycle. On the Laser 55 and 72 the heater will stop and the red Reset lamp will light rather
than the EE2 code. (Note: There may be other reasons for the reset lamp to come on but much of
this information will apply.)
What Can Cause An EE2 Error? The primary flame rod is the only sensor in the heater that
can cause the EE2 error. Thus, if it occurs, either there is (1) no flame to detect, or (2) the
sensor failed to detect the flame. The flame rod is located on the lower 1/3 of the burner. It is a
heavy wire with a ceramic insulator. A single white insulated wire connects this device to the
main circuit board.
