Problem for Panasonic DMR-E85H DVD Recorder

Can't change the clock time

By dmcclannahan on Nov 03, 2008

I have a DMR-E85H DVD Recorder. I am trying to change the time clock to read the new time since we are now on Standard time again. I can get to the selection screen which gives me either Auto clock set or Manual clock set. When I try to select Manual clock set, it will not let me go any further. Auto clock set will also not go any further. I have powered down the unit and unpluged it and everything else works but it will not let me change the clock time.

I had the same problem. I finally reset the unit to its factory defaults. From the avsforum.com (quote)

"With power off (stand-by mode), Press and hold [skip reverse |<< ] [Time Slip] [Open/Close] buttons on the unit's front for about 10 sec. Unit will go into Self Check Mode and then Display 'L1 TEST'. Now power off. Clock should be flashing 12:00. Turn power on and intial setup menu will be displayed on TV. Use also for DMRE50, DMRE55 AND DMRE85 models also."

I was then able to manually set the clock (and disable DST mode).

Good luck!

Best Solution posted Nov 6, 2008, by Guest -- worked for me. Wondering what the DST is? -- Daylight Savings Time. There will be a button at the bottom right in the date OFF. Apparently the TV Guide programing does not work that well, especially with the new Digital boxes now need to receive over the air TV and the TV Guide programing never worked with Satellite TV. Wil this feature ever be up dated? I doubt it. It would be nice to have the digital box and your dvr cycled together.
