Question about Frigidaire FTF530ES
Over the past few weeks the spin cycle has gotten loud with every load. It is not a knocking noise, but a constant "whir" type of sound that is now quite loud. It appears to work fine, just much louder than the first several years that we had it. When it is empty and spin it by hand you can hear the sound even though it does not appear to be moving side to side at all and seems to spin freely. The wash machine is in the basement so I can live with the noise if this is not something critical that needs repair. I assume it is some bearing that is going bad. I do not smell any odors, no rubber chucks to indicate a bad belt, etc, just a very loud constant sound during the spin cycles. All the other cycles appear to work fine and are no louder then normal.
OTHER THEN CHECKING THE WATER PUMP I THINK YOUR RIGHT THE BEARING ARE GOING,IT WILL WORK FINE TILL THEY LOCKUP THEN THE BELT WILL BURN OFF,BUT I WOULD CHECK THE WATER PUMP ALOT OF TIMES IT JUST THAT,LET ME KNOW -MIKE
