The camera takes SD cards up to 2GB (not SDHC cards). If you've been taking pictures using the camera's internal memory, you must first get rid of those pics. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert your new card and go through the "format" routine again to prepare the new card.
Insert the memory card into the camera. Make sure the card is firmly seated (push in the card until it clicks into place). Turn on the camera. Press the Menu button, then go to the Setup Menu. Scroll up or down to the Format option, then press the OK button. Follow the prompts to format the memory card.
It may be that you are trying to put it in backwards. It can go in only one way, contacts first. The last bit in "is" spring loaded so it will take a "little" force. If it truly will no go down pull it out, spin it 180 degrees and try installing it again.
dear dave how did you insert the memory ? it will only work in one way , the other way the memory card may be seated but infact it is not fully seated and won't want to goe further , Take out the memory card turn it around so that the label side is facing the other way and try to see if ti will fit in that way you wont have to push it hard just once light and than it will have to be in place
The cause and solution may include one of the following:
The card may not be certified SD or MMC. Purchase a certified SD or MMC memory card.
The card may be corrupt. Reformat the memory card.
CAUTION: Formatting deletes all pictures and videos, including those that are protected. Removing a card during formatting may damage the card.
The card is not fully inserted in the camera. Turn off the camera, insert a card into the slot, then push to seat it.
