Hello You may not have set the remot to TV with its set up code. If you have did it, and still there is no response by the TV to remote control, the remote sensor inside the tV is faulty. This is a three terminal component, can be located behind the remote sensor window at it front panel. you have to open the TV to access this component. Will look brownish black in color, and can be easly replaced. The component can be bought from most of the elctronic spare part selling shops at your town. The images of some types are given here.
Try removing the batteries from the remote control, as a button may be stuck and is causing a repeated signal to be sent to the TV, possibly overriding any manual button actions.
Also unplug the TV for a few minutes and then plug it back in. You said that it wouldn't turn on when pressing the channel buttons on the TV, try the power button instead.
sounds like your picture color tube may have went if the tv can not be adjusted with the remote or on the tv itself did you try every color or picture button on the remote and the tv itseff and if it is old i would get a new one if not have it fixed , sincerely john
