The screen replacement is not cheap, hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if okay! the LCD screen is bad and must be replaced, if symptom is the same for both, it is the Video Graphics Card that is the problem normally built into the motherboard, If the laptop is a few years old I would opt to replace it.

I assume that when you dont use your computer you put it in a sleep mode by pressing sleep button ..so if this is the problem you are facing than there is nothing wrong with your video card and solution for this problem is that remove both the power cables and also remove the battery for time being, after some time put back your battery in the laptop and plug the power cable and restart your laptop it will work fine...........

Well the issue is usally with the Video driver.Try reinstalling it from the support.dell.com and that should resolve the issue. Also you can try connectring a external moniter and see if you get the proper display on that or not.Incase you do than issue is with the screen and incase its the same on that as well than its an issue with the video card. You can get either of the two replaced accordingly.

on a dell 1525 the replacement is pretty easy, definitely costs much less than replacements of the manufacturer if you can do it yourself, there are laptop repair guides websites that guide you through the repair step by step, but you should have done something like this before, there are also third party laptop repair places that can do it for you.

You may have a burned video adapter.
A trouble shoting setp you can try is attatching an external display and seeing if that works.
Also try the function F5 key combo. I think that is the ASUS mapping to switch display output.
