My daughter found that the rotator arms top and bottom retained scale that clogged the spray openings. 1. She removed the arms and soaked respective ends in a solution of rinse-away. 2. She was able to then use small bamboo skewers on the clogged openings. 3. She followed up by successively tapping, shaking the rotor arms to loosen the scale that had accumulated on all inner surfaces of the rotators, then rinsing as much scale from the arms as possible. She repeated steps 1 through 3 for each of the arms until all orifices were clear of scale, and tapping and rinsing produced no further residue. Replacing the rotator arms (both top and bottom), the quick rinse cycle produced further blockage of the orifices at the end of the arms. One more removal and flushing of the arms completed the cleaning to our satisfaction.

Now our glassware is clearing up. Rinse Away solution and a hanging basket on the upper tray seems to prevent further cloudy deposits.

Your water softener may not be working properly. You may have to wash glasses by hand to remove accumulation.

Why are my glasses breaking in my new Kenmore Elite dishwasher model 665.1277

What type of glasses? (Stemware, Tumbler, etc)

And where are the glasses being placed in the dishwasher?

Is there a particular location that this seems to be happening?

All glasses and plates have a cloudy film remaining after wash

Hi
White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.
Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

Want to remove top washer/paddle need to remove scale from this.

Hi,
It may not be necessary to remove the upper spray arm. I wrote this short article for someone
several week ago. Item #4, which I have underlined tells you how to clear out lime deposits.
I hope this helps. Enjoy.
Best, Mark

There are several causes in dishwashers that make dishes come out with film on them or something of the sort. Here they are.
1 Water temperature should be 140 degrees. Your dishwasher should have a "sani" cycle that heats up the water into that range.
2 Most dishwashers were never engineered for liquid soap. So if you are using it, go to powder soap.
3 A rinse agent is definitely a big plus
4 In some parts of America, such as Florida, lime deposits build up in the machine and accumulate onto the dishes and glasses. It's a white film. It also accumulates in the parts of the machine and logs them. If this is the case. Run white vinigar in the machine.
Empty the machine.
Turn it on.
While the machine is filling with water, (not at the very very beginning as it will drain out existing water when it is started) put a quart of vinegar in and run it. If it has lime deposits it will greatly reduce them.

5 The spray arms may be jammed with pieces of food or other debris. make sure the holes in the arms are not obstructed.

That should do it.

Ge profile...white crusty deposits in rotary sprayer... white deposits on dishes... soap remains

Hi eino...... empty the dishwasher and pour in two cups of vinegar. Then run your longest and hottest cycle. This should clean the interior and make it good as new, including the rotary sprayer. IF it does not do it, then go to the hardware store and get a bottle of CLR. That is a calcium, lime and rust remover. Use 2 cups in the dishwashwasher just as you did with the vinegar. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa,

Based on your description I`d suspect a plugged wash pump.

The place to start for that is to pull the pump filter, spray arm and check for food deposit, broken glass, undesolved detergent and general water deposit built up in the sump well.

The key is to get in there and clean it all out, I`ve attached a link at the bottom that will show you how to go about it. It is not really referring to the heating issue, or maybe even your model, ( Most Whirlpool, Inglis, Kenmore, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air ) but it is the same procedure.

When you`re finished run it through a test cycle and see how it goes.

Let me know how you make out and what you find.
