Question about Frigidaire FEFL77AS (Electric) Kitchen Range
My FEFL77AS baking element stays on all the time even after a circuit breaker reset. Without touching any controls the baking element comes on and stays on. I have turned on the oven set the temperature and then turned the oven off but the element stays cherry red. After a breaker reset the element heats up before any control is touched. Any thoughts

Richard, sounds like you did all the pretests. You'll need a new display panel. When you work on it, be sure to cut the power.

although you dont have hte model number , that is indeed a correct and valid part number for the control lists for a about $120. since your back there give a quick look at the wiring into the unit, is that ok ??? adn where the burnout is on the control does it appear to have shorted out against the back wall??? perhaps a relay on the board just blew??? i really wouldn't thinkn tha another component was goning to make that go bad, also ck the bake and broil elements for continuity, perhapa wire fell off the element blowing out the control

With the oven OFF, check the resistance of the bake element with a ohmmeter on the lowest scale. Rx1. If your reading is infinate, replace the element as most elements will open circuit when they burn out. They don't short out.

The top element normally operates only when you turn the temperature control all the up to the broil setting as it is the broiling element. If it doesn't work at the broil setting, suspect a bad brioler element or a faulty temperature control.
