Question about Frigidaire FEFL77AS (Electric) Kitchen Range

Open Question

Oven Element always on

My FEFL77AS baking element stays on all the time even after a circuit breaker reset. Without touching any controls the baking element comes on and stays on. I have turned on the oven set the temperature and then turned the oven off but the element stays cherry red. After a breaker reset the element heats up before any control is touched. Any thoughts

I'm having the same problem with my Kenmore. There's one spot on the bottom element that stays glowing when the oven is off. I've had to flip the circuit breaker to get it to turn off. What is the problem?

Richard, sounds like you did all the pretests. You'll need a new display panel. When you work on it, be sure to cut the power.

although you dont have hte model number , that is indeed a correct and valid part number for the control lists for a about $120. since your back there give a quick look at the wiring into the unit, is that ok ??? adn where the burnout is on the control does it appear to have shorted out against the back wall??? perhaps a relay on the board just blew??? i really wouldn't thinkn tha another component was goning to make that go bad, also ck the bake and broil elements for continuity, perhapa wire fell off the element blowing out the control

With the oven OFF, check the resistance of the bake element with a ohmmeter on the lowest scale. Rx1. If your reading is infinate, replace the element as most elements will open circuit when they burn out. They don't short out.

SOURCE: top element wont heat wen oven is on bake

The top element normally operates only when you turn the temperature control all the up to the broil setting as it is the broiling element. If it doesn't work at the broil setting, suspect a bad brioler element or a faulty temperature control.

Frigidaire - Professional Series - Gas/Electric Range - Replaced bake element but now Broiler and Bake elements don't work

Go outside to the breaker panel on your house and reset the oven breaker a couple of times. It will be 2 breakers side by side with the switch handles bound together. What happens is if one trips but not both, 240 volts is not present but 120 is. that's why motors and lights still work. If the breaker has some age on it just get the number off it and replace it.

Appliance Repair Meridian - Oven Bake Element Replacement

Oven Bake elements are relatively easy to replace but there are extra precautions that need to be taken. Do not touch, reposition, or remove element without unplugging the appliance. On some ranges there is always L2-120V that is live - not switched in but there constantly. If you happen to touch the element, if it's broken, you can become enlightened very quickly.

Anyway, on with the replacment. Remove two screws from the inside back wall to release back element. Carefully and patiently, work the back element towards you to expose the wire terminals. Disconnect wire terminals and install in reverse order.

My whirlpool electric stove not turning on

Make sure it is plugged in and you have power to your house. If everything is dead check your fusebox for blown fuses if you have circuit breakers reset the breaker for the stove by turning it off then back on. If the burners on the top work, but the oven won't you probably have a burned out bake element .To change this turn off power to the stove and unplug remove 2 or 3 screws holding the bake element and remove the wires to the element by loosing the screws on the terminals note sometimes bake elements plug in in this case just unplug. Reverse process to install. Reapply power and test.

Loud pop from Range, stove top still works

The pop was a shorted wire.
The short drew sudden over-amp at breaker.
Amps = heat.
Breaker senses heat and trips before wire to oven is damaged, and before the arcing short can cause a fire.
Was the short at the element?
I don't know, but sounds like the circuit board was damaged.
Of course they are putting electronics inside all appliances today instead of old mechanical dial, because it's cheaper or so much prettier... but new appliances more vulnerable to surge, and other electrical failures. Which is true for all 240V appliances not protected by whole house surge protector.
To test element.
Remove element.
Use a continuity tester across the element connections.
If there is continuity, then the element is probably functional.
Use a multimeter across same element, set multimeter to read ohms.
240 Volt, 3500 watt element should be about 16 ohms.
4500 watt about 12-13 ohms
Volts squared divided by watts = ohms
57,600 divided by 4500 watt = 12.8 ohms

I would guess that the short fried the circuit board, but there is a also a shorted wire somewhere that is still bare and dangerous while power is ON and you are touching oven or stove, unless 240V breaker is GFCI or arc fault, which probably not. Especially dangerous if you are moving stuff around trying to find problem while power is ON.

Is there an oven reset button on a frigidaire range fefl79jba?

Hello G Rego - The range may be reset by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes, turn on the range and select bake or broil option. Should all troubleshooting measures fail, I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to move forward accurately. The range could possibly be experiencing a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty element(s). You can often local service providers by visiting the manufacturer website.

Wife put the oven on clean cycle last night. This morning the heating element will not turn off, a one inch section glows orange. Turned oven off, put it back on clean, broil and off again, no change.

You probably just need a new bake element. Many ranges supply 120 volts to one side of the bake element at all times, switching the other side of the 240 voltage to it (and completing a circuit) when it needs to heat. If the element shorts to ground, the 120 volts can heat though a section of the element to the ground. OK, so much for the technical stuff. Turn power off to range. Replace bake element. Re-connect power. If it works, great. If it heat without turning oven "on" now, that would indicate that the electrical contacts in the bake relay on the control board have welded themselves together, necessitating replacing the control board. Let's hope you are not unlucky enough to have had that happen. (sometimes that happens as the result of an element failure)

Sounds like a shorted wire or something grounding.
Slide out range and unplug and take off bake and look around for a short either at the bake or broil element ot at the terminal where the cord connects.

I have a Electrolux EXC643 Oven. When you turn on the oven, set to 200 deg C for example, the oven fan and light works, but the oven stay's cold. The circuit breaker has not been tripped, at any point....

circular element is almost certainly open circuit. often the breaker will trip when element goes faulty but not always. take rear cover off and check for continuity
