Hi

Sorry I havent checked my Fixya for awhile been very busy.

Sounds like a setting on your computer not your camera. When you plug in the camera open up My Computer, then right click the drive letter for your camera and select Properties. Then look for "Auto Play" and see if you can set it to always open when plugged in.

Hope this helps.

I have cleared the memory card after transferring photo's to my computer, but the camera will not allow me to take further photo's and "CARD FULL" appears on the viewing screen. What do I have to do?

Sounds like you used the computer to erase the card. The camera doesn't recognize any actions taken by the computer. 1. Go into the camera menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 2. Insert the card into the camera, find "format" in the menu and follow the directions.

EOS Utility does not recoganize Canon Rebel Xti

I believe there are 2 modes of usb transfer that you can pick in the camera. They are set somewhere in the menu in the options. If you go through the menus thoroughly you'll find it. One option is for connecting the camera directly to a printer and the other is for computer transfer (there might also be an Auto setting but I don't remember for sure). Make sure that setting is set for computer transfer. If that doesn't fix your problem, re-install or update EOS Utility / ZoomBrowser.

Cannot correctly install my camera to my computer.

Once you installed the drivers and software from CD, once you connect the camera to USB port, it should automatically detect tyhe new device and configure the drivers and then say ready to use new device. Or at most say ready to use new device after reboot. You don't normally have to manually do anything. After this your My Computer should show an additional Disk Drive that represents your camera.

Selecting the "format" option in the menu will wipe off your images. basically it reformats the memory card. I would get a card reader, if you havent done so already. I worked with a student today & for some reason we couldn't transfer images from his camera directly to computer via usb + we were getting some error messages when trying to do so. So, I ended up taking his memory card out & used a memory card reader to transfer the images to 'puter and it worked fine.
