Mits 527252 ballast

We have no picture. Lamp is not the problem. We fixed a few bulging capcitors. Do you think replacing the ballast is the next step? What the chance of success here?

Good Day; I would suspect the ballast, but try these first:

Causes: Cause #1 1. (Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. (Lamp may light and go out) Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Lamp Power PCB (ballast) part # 939P978010 7. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitshubishi TV WD65C8 picture is dark - has been that way since i bought it 2 yrs ago? sonenergy@qwest.net

If you have a dark picture I would first check lamp and see if correct, and if correct you could have a bad or weak ballast, but I would buy new mits lamp and replace and see if this helps if not check ballast

SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE BALLAST WITH THE LAMP AT THE SAME TIME, YOU MIGHT GET LUCKY AND ONLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE BALLAST, DON;T TURN IT ON ANY MORE OR YOU WILL WASTE THE LAMP

Mitsubishi WD-65733 no picture, electrical buzzes in series

What it sound's like is that the lamp ballast is the problem. Buzzing sounds like when the power is first brought to the ballast it has to ramp up the voltage to get the lamp to light, then the voltage drops back down when the lamp is lit. Sounds like the lamp ballast isn't ramping up the voltage the way it should. May have to replace it. A good service shop would be able to do this for you.

Picture keeps flickering after 15 min

if you hear chirping, too, replace the colorwheel. also check the lamp timer. if it's close to 2000hours (or the inside of the lamp is bulging or blackened), replace the lamp. if the lamp is new and the colorwheel doesn't chirp, replace the ballast/power supply.

Sounds like the bulb needs to be replaced. With the tv you have the Bulb last about 6000-8000 hours. If you think that is about right then you it most likely is time ro replace. You should be able to find the replacement bulb from the manufacture and then find it online to purchase.

the ballast should make momentary arcing sound and orange flash in its spark gap tube when it 1st trys to light the lamp. look for it in the darkness it will be easier to spot, as you listen for it. make sure you are buying toshiba factory replacement lamp.
