Question about Remote Starter with Keyless Entry

Remote won't work and parking lights blink

I just installed an RS1100 in a 2004 F150 Ford Pickup. I did include the 791 Transponder. When I plug either or both of the red wires into the box, my flashers blink and I can't the remote to reset or work. I've rechecked all the wiring and they are where they should be.

Same here...I have an '04 Ford SportTrac. I bought the T-harness and transponder. I placed the extra key into the transponder. Directions say key should be "tight." HOW? You can't bend the loop around the key as mine is wires coated in a hard covering that cracks if you were to try and bend it. Does the key have to be touching the loop or just rest inside. I put some double sided tape on the key to keep it from moving around. Can you have too much tape that the loop doesn't pick up the key's code?. I have a Red LED on the transponder module that is always lit (Should it be?) Where does the blue wire from the transponder box go? My red is hooked to a constant 12V and the ornage is ground.

The starter module clicks and dash lights flash. OH, and what about this hood switch? It talks about resetting the module by undoing this wire...blah, blah...and stepping on the brake while pressing any key on the remote...yet the t-harness setup does not appear to need this hood switch installed. Love how they leave the details out of an instruction manual that is general enough for over 1000 makes and models of cars. Bulldog...can you get specific please!

My viper 5701 transponder gives error code of five blinks even though it does the function

Five blinks of the parking lights during remote starter operation is an error code for the (+) brake shutdown. If your foot is not on the brake then, there is an issue with your brake switch or your parking lights and brake lights wires are making contact, possibly in one of the front or rear light housings. Corrosion maybe.

It starts and runs, than shuts off 3 seconds later? i havent tried anything yet, and it was installed in 2002. jeep grand cherokee.

Do you have anti-theft system bypass module installed? Transponder key bypass? Try unlocking the doors with your factory Jeep remote (turns off alarm) and leaving the gray transponder key in the ignition cylinder. Then try activating your remote start. Sounds like one of the factory anti-theft systems is still active. Basically if the car's computer doesn't want it to run, the car won't run. You have to fool the car into thinking it is OK to start and stay running without the key and anti-theft device deactivated. You need to leave a transponder key in the vehicle under the dash to bypass that system. You can get a generic one for about $20. You MUST have 2 original gray transponder keys in order to program a third. There is a sequence of putting one key in the ignition, then the second, then the new blank key so the cars computer knows to allow that key also. If you do not have 2 original keys, then you need to go to someone that can program properly like dealership or some locksmiths or alarm shops. Then they usually charge about $100 for a second key. You don't have to have the key cut. That way if someone finds the spare transponder key in the vehicle, it wont turn the ignition cylinder. The anti-theft bypass module (factory alarm bypass) runs about $25. Bulldog Security or JBS model 791 should work for your vehicle. If you live in an area where car thefts are common, you may not want to bypass these factory security measures.
Hope this information helps.

After installing a rs1100 remote starter the vehicle keeps giving several error codes (which I reset but they keep coming back). I'm not sure if the ignition (white) and the starter crank (orange w/black)...

IF YOUR REMOTE STARTER IS CLICKING AND/OR FLASHING THE PARKING LIGHTS AND IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE REMOTE, IT IS IN SAFE MODE AND NEEDS TO BE INITIALIZED BY DOING THE FOLLOWING:
If you have a 4 button remote, you must ground the black/blue hood pin wire (raise hood if hood switch is installed). Apply 12volts to blue/black brake wire (press and hold brake pedal if wire is installed). Press and hold any button on your remote until clicking and flashing stops. Unit will now respond to the remote. Remove ground from hood pin wire and voltage from brake wire. If you have a 2 button remote, hold brake and press any button on the remote until clicking and flashing stops.

TY for use Fixya, good luck(remember rated this help).

Model RS82B sometimes works, sometimes not. Have reprogrammed 3 times...same thing. Also shouldn't the running lights come on when starting?

There is a brown wire in the drivers kick panel, if your remote starter is hooked up to this wire, and the switch beside the wire harness is set to positive then yes your parking lights should come on when you press the start button on the remote. Your car also has an antithieft system and hopfully you have hooked up the 791 bypass modual, if not this is your problem with your car

Is there a T-harness that will fit an 01 Buick LeSabre? I need 1 to simplify a Bulldog Remote starter kit. Joe

There sure is, It uses the gm2 harness for the LeSabre and you also might need a 791 anti theft bypass for the security transponder if equiped on your vehicle. Check out the bulldog website or call the support line # that came with your unit to order the T-harness.

99 gmc sierra 1500, basic bulldog remote start kit, mechanic installed- can't figure out why it won't start? Does it HAVE to have the by-pass part #791 that is NOT included in the pkg?

No i dont think you need that by-pass part for it to work correctly. Go to the bulldog website and look up your vehicle, wiring color code and required equip. also should have some install photos. I would get ahold of your mechanic and have him resolve the issue being he installed it.

I have installed a bulldog security rs82p on a 2004 merc sable. The bypass module used was originally labeled as a model 20402,23402,27402,&29402. This is now the 791 the unit turns on but does NOT...

put your key in the ignition leave it in the off position, now press the remote starter, if it starts you need to adjust the key in the 791, or adjust the transponder loop around the key chamber
