To reset the password you need to know the previous password which you obviously dont or you wouldnt be asking.two ways around this safest/easiest way get a program called spotmau.once installed on a boot disk it can reset all password fields.the other way is to remove the rtc battery located on the circuit board and replace after a minute or so thus resettinng bios;though this way requires a partial strip down.your rtc battery may be in between the mem slots(it is on the 5110)so this would in that case be simple.just unscrew retaining screw of mem cover and pop out the battery, replace it and boot up.(it looks like a large digatal watch battery)

How do you remove the power-on password for windows Hp compaq 6710b?

Sadly, you must pull the laptop apart and reset the BIOS...well unless you know the password, then just remove it through BIOS.

Unknown hp power-on password

Did you do all these steps in order?

1) Remove the computer power pack battery. Remove the keyboard.
2) Remove the RTC battery. Wait 5 minutes. (I would wait longer, maybe 15 minutes.)
3) Reinstall the RTC battery. Reinstall the keyboard.
4) Plug the AC power into the computer. (DO NOT INSTALL THE POWER PACK BATTERY AT THIS POINT)
5) Turn on the computer.

This should reset the password and also all CMOS settings.
