ValuSoft's "Complete Bible Collection" (by 3 users)

posted by LEEDEF on Sep 28, 2006

I have attemted to install ValuSoft's "Complete Bible Collection" on a new Dell Dimension computer... with disastrous results.

After installation from the CD you are told to reboot the computer. Howevr, when the computer attempts to reboot into Windows XP it crashes at the Widows star-up screen and displays a "Fatal Error" message on the blue screen of death. Windows will no longer load!

Thinking this was just a fluke, and after testing the origianl installation CD with a virus scan, I attempted to load it onto a 2nd Dell Dimension computer... NOW I HAVE 2 EXPENSIVE DOORSTOPS! Both computers boot into the blue Screen of Death!

VlauSoft, the manufacture of the software, says that maybe the problem is with Microsoft "mdac" or ".net" conflicts... or that Dell has some built-in BIOS anti-virus software that is causing the problem. Nothing seems to help!

Has anyone else reported any problems such as these?

Tried Safe Mode... Safe Mode with Caommand Prompt... none work. In safe mode it seems to hang on MUP.SYS

*nods* Similar problems here with ABC and Green Eggs and Ham. GE&H hung on my husbands laptop so we tried it on my desktop. No major problems; occasionally hangs but that's rare (although it shouldn't freeze up ever - I have more then the recommended RAM, running Vista which it is supposed to be compatible to, etc). So tried ABC. Forget it; can't get past the letter B. Doesn't crash the computer, just the program but in any case it's useless. Going to email The Learning Company.

Have you tried to boot into Safe Mode? if you can do so successfully, you'll have a good chance of being able to undo some of the damage.

Did you create a system restore point before the install?

I have run into two systems with similar blue screens on startup after installing the Valusoft Ultimate Games for Family 2.

I had to run a check on the NTFS partition on the disk drive using a special boot CD to correct the corruption made to the disk.
