Activex blocking usage of speco remote

I use Speco Remote to view security cameras in my home. I recently bought a new computer and can't get past the Activex controls to view my security cameras. Is there something I need to do under "internet options"?

Open the "internet options" menu through tools. Click on "security" tab. Then select the "internet" and click on custom level. Here, navigate to the "Activex controls and plug-ins" section. Change "Download Unsigned ActiveX Controls" to "prompt" and do the same for the setting directly below that. This should clear up your problem

After you change your active x settings you may also have to change your Internet settings to allow trusted sites. Also adjust your custom security settings.

I start using fifox as my default browser but speco remote security cameras is no opening

Firefox does not support the necessary dual streaming that is necessary for speco remote to work. I use Firefox for all my web surfing, but I have to keep IE on the puter to remote access any Speco DVRs that I am servicing. If you really don't like IE, then you will need to use the CMS software that comes with the DVR system on a seperate disc or download it from Specotech.com.

I have a speco dvr 16ip and i cannot connect to it through the LAN because it already has a password set on it. We bought it used and do not have any way to ask the previous owner what it is so I need to...

Open The Case and inside you will see a battery, silver disk, remove it for 5 mins and reinstall it, power up the DVR and it should be set to factory defaults, the factory default for Speco DVR's is 1234
