Question about Belling DB3 Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range

Open Question

Temperature / markings on front panel

We have a belling platinum db3 and due to cleaning over time, the temperature seetings and markings around the control knobs on the front panel have been erased.

Belling appear not to have a solution ... saying that the markings are etched into the panel itself and, when I called the spares sales team, the person said they don't stock panels as spares.

Failing all else, can you point me in the direction of a good, clear, close up picture / artwork of the panel so I can etch on myself?

Kind regards

Our markings came off too and appeaer just to be ink transfers and are not etched on. They are easily removed with contact from fingers when using the controls. We have other issues including black paint peeling around cooker top edge, the seal quickly breaking around oven doors, cannot remove the glass to replace the bulb in the main oven, ignition clicks but does not light burners and now fan assisted oven does not work...lovely when new but very disappointed with quality of product.

I have the same problem - drew on it myself - looks awful!!

Exactly the same problem - when it was still under guarantee the company that I bought it from replaced the fascia but surprise surprise its happened again.

I contacted Belling who maintained it isnt a mannufacturing fault - which it clearly is!!!

When it was less than 2 years old the door hinge went and we had to have that replaced, now the light in the main oven has gone but despite the instructions the glass cover refuses to budge!!!!

I'm writing a letter of complaint to Belling- will keep you updated!

The decals on the control panel of my cooker have also rubbed off. I see espares sell a replacement control panel for about £100 but if anyone knows where you could buy the decals as I would rather not spend that sort of money - plus the fact I dont want to have to take the cooker apart to do it.

Not easy. Briefly, in addition to the screws you mention, the cooker side panels need to be removed to give access to removal of the control panel side clamps. Then the indicator lamps have to be disconnected, and timer etc. buttons have to be pulled out to allow removal of the the control panel. Then the main control unit (timer etc.) needs to be unscrewed from behind the control panel.
Replacement is reversal of above.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Belling DB3 Main oven door falling off its hinges

The same thing is happening with my oven. I have found a web page which sells the parts and removing the door and replacing the hinge would be easy enough. The design of the door however, may mean the problem just happens again.

Common faults with Belling DB3 Dual Fuel Range

For all Free appliance repair videos visit our VIDEO TUTORIALS 1, If the Belling fan motor in the back of the oven is going round and the temperature light is on (normally little red light), but there is no heat then you will probably need a new oven element, these are generally very easy to fit and readily available from our website these can be tested with a electric meter.
To gain access to the BELLING element you will have to remove the back plate from inside the oven. Once removed you will see the fan and element, if you look closely at the element you will probably see a small hole burnt in it where it has blown. Sometimes however there is no evidence of a fault but the element is open circuit ie: broken inside the element casing, either way it will need replacing. Some elements will are fixed from inside the oven and some are held in place by nuts from the rear of the machine.
2, If your BELLING fan oven is getting warm but takes a very long time to cook or is burning the food more on one side than the other, then you need to check if your oven fan motor is working you will see the blade turning fast if it is ok. if the element is heating but the fan motor is not blowing the heat into the oven then you need To replace the oven fan motor is a little more expensive and a bit more involved.
3. If you have the opposite problem ie: your oven is over heating and burning everything then you will need to replace your BELLING oven thermostat
4, A quite common and easily overlooked answer is if your BELLING oven is not working at all ie: no heat and no fan then the chances are that someone has put the oven timer into AUTO mode, simply put oven back to MANUAL mode and all should be working again.

Belling DB3 Duek Fuel Cooker

I'm not familiar with this unit exactly but I'll give you some guidelines. You have a double layer or more of glass and the glass inside the unit is your problem. Generally, cleaning glass on ovens is no problem if you use cleaners that leave no residues, don't stress the glass and don't scratch it. Prepare a flat surface covered with newspaper to clean your glass. You may use a blue glass cleaner, a scrubby or VERY fine steel wool. Never use any cleaner which leaves residue. Use lots of liquid and very little pressure. Finish with a soft cloth. Clean the inside of the door and any of the gasket you can get to. Use only a sponge and detergent unless the area is really a mess.

First, be aware that the door is spring loaded and as you remove items, it will tend to snap closed. Note that there are probably screws that are near the base of the door, probably accessed from below. Remove these first. Then, remove side screws and carefully remove the panel holding the glass. This probably comes out into the room. There is a danger that the glass is not secured inside the panel so have the door fully open when 'dropping' the outside panel. Note the positions of all clips. You may even want to take a digital picture or two. When reassembling, never overtighten anything! All parts should lay flat and insert easily. Get assistance with reassembly...you'll need another pair of hands.

Problem with main fan oven - electric

there is an overheat stat and this is operating and cutting out the oven. the causes are several but here are the main things to look for: oven stat is faulty causing the oven to overheat. you should check over the range to see if stat is reasonably accurate. overheat stat itself is faulty. there is another stat which turns on the casing fan. (this is the fan which is out of sight - not the fan inside the oven) if this stat is faulty and not turning on the casing fan, then the overheat stat will operate. the casing fan is faulty or jammed. lack of ventilation. see if you can narrow it down a bit and get back to me if you wish
