Question about Rinnai Toyostove Direct Vent Heater: Laser 30 Toyostove Direct Vent Heater Shipping
When you try to turn on Monitor it will read E-01. What does that mean?
A grounded flame rod, could have a piece of soot on the flame rod, or a pinched wire. Be careful with gaskets when removing and they are reusable, but should be replaced if compromised in any way.

You have a grounded flame rod. Carbon on the rod or burner could be the cause. You could try to remove the rod and clean it. If you do you will need to have a gasket to seal it up when you put it back together. It is very important to seal Monitor heaters after repair. Monitor 41 heaters could be 20+ years old. If it has never been serviced, it's long over due.

Our monitor heater was reading E-01. We decided that we would try cleaning the back of the unit and we landed up cleaning all parts of the unit that were visible. We plugged it back in and it works fine again. Thank you for your time.
