Re: IBM T40 screen not working!!!! Please Help Me!!!!
Check the display on external monitor, through the vga port of your laptop if the display is there then its the problem of your screen, some times this happen due to non working of the cable that gives display to the screen , its better check it by some technician

Check the power supply.Hope the notebook receives power from the battery or the Ac adapter. We need to ensure there is no issue with the power supply.boot the notebook to the safe mode.If it boots to the safemode perform a system restore. In case the notebook does not boot to the BIOS,connect to an external monitor. If we still do not get a display, its the video card
When you say the machine is dead do you mean you are getting no LED lights at all or do you mean it is not booting up? No power and no post are two different things. With no power you get absolutely nothing at all. With no post you may have some LED lights but nothing comes up on the screen. You said power and power supply tested ok. How are you testing it? I need more info please.

Plug it into the power cord. If it still doesn't work, replace the whole power cord. Get one from ebay pretty cheap. I have ran into alot of faulty power cords for the IBM T Series laptops in my
line of work.
