Question about Hotpoint FFU00 Side by Side Refrigerator
My freeze is thawed and my fridge is warm. i have both settings on max. what may be causing this????
This happened last night with my fridge. The condenser coils had never been cleaned nor had the back cover louvers. Totally clogged with lint. Previous owner had never moved or cleaned the unit. Compressor's overheat temp switch had shut down the compressor to protect itself. Removed the back cover and vacuumed the louvers and coils clean after unplugging the fridge. By the time I was done, the compressor had cooled and everything started running. This AM, the freezer is getting cold (down to 30) and everything seems to be coming back to life. The ice maker will start making ice when it gets cold enough. Allow 24 hours for the entire unit to stablize.

Could be stuck in "defrost" mode. Happens a lot. See if you can hear if the compressor is running or the compressor cooling fan is running (in back underneath the unit). Worse case is the refrigerant leaked out and you have a sealed system problem.
