PSP systems are region free, you can play a game from any country on them, however, UMD movies are region locked.

SOURCE: how can i download games for my new psp-3004?

Nice try, but this does not apply to his or this psp. aka the 3000 series (lite). As of now there is no hack for the lite psp. The solution that chris is posting is for the phat or og psp that first came out. The 1000 series. You cannot go back to 1.50 on a slim psp. Because there was none made with 1.50fw. If you try to downgrade your psp you will brick (kill) your psp. The only way you can d/l games is through sony's psn store and there all psx (PS1 games). And you have to pay. Any more question pls feel free to ask.

SOURCE: region code blocks DVD

Hi, you have to delete de region coding on your DVD, by using a computer (either a mac or PC, or linux) then you can play it. However, if the format is not the same (PAL&NTSC) it's gonna be impossible : for instance, if your PS3 is NTSC, you wont be able to playback PAL content, however, I think it might be possible to the opposite for PAL PS3 owners, since every PAL DVD player can read NTSC (but practically, none of NTSC player read PAL ...) Sad indeed mate.

Its a pain in the *** willing to try converting PAL to NTSC. You better forget it .... However, if its just a region code issue, as I said first, you can just backup it up deleting the CSS (it's illegal... whatever) and burning the region-unlocked movie to a blank DVD and play it ^^

My son psp beep when you put a game in and the umd does not come up can you help please

f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMD™) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:

  • Issues with PlayStation®Store content Click here for help with content purchased from the PlayStation Store.
  • Restore Default Settings Restore Default settings will default the PSP system to its original settings. A setting change may be the reason the PSP system is having difficulties. Click here to learn how to restore default settings on the PSPgo / PSP system.
  • Confirm UMD is properly inserted

Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.

For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system If possible, try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the disc still does not function properly, it might need to be replaced. If the disc does function properly, the PSP system may need service, see PSP Service for details.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system If possible, try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Check for moisture Do not let the PSP system or any PSP® accessories come in contact with liquid. Also check for moisture condensation in the PSP system. If moisture condensation occurs, remove the disc from the PSP and do not use the PSP until the condensation has evaporated, which can take an hour or two. In general, if any part of the PSP gets wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
  • Check the regional code Check the regional code on the UMD™ Video. The only regional codes that the North American PSP® is tested to work properly with are "ALL" and "1.
    "
Tried these steps and still need help?

If you have tried the troubleshooting information above, but continue to experience problems, please contact our Consumer Services department to have your PSP system serviced.

Movies wont play because of region

this is probably because the movies and/or the psp were not bought (or downloaded) in the same place. try changing your psp location settings if you can.

I have a psp but it is restricted to region code 2 but i live in the usa and only have region 1 material....how can i re-code for region 1 thanks

you really can't recode to a different region. but there is a process where you install custom firm ware (cfm) that overides all region. meaning that you'll be able to play all different region games, movies, and download games going back to the nes, sega, gameboy, etc. doing this will void warranty and you could brick your psp. which causes your psp to not work.
if u are intrested you can check youtube and look for "psp cfw"
if you are not intrested your only bet is to sell it off and buy another with region 1 codeing

I have a sumsung dvd-L300 portable player. Do I need a converter or transformer to use it in Europe?

I think so, DVD region codes are a DRM scheme. DVD videodiscs may be encoded with a region code restricting the area of theworld in which they can be played.

Thecommercial DVD player specification requires that a player to be soldin a given place not play discs encoded for a different region (region0 discs are not restricted).

so if you want to making the DVD region free, watch and copy multi region-coded DVD on any DVD player and any DVDplayer software, back up protected DVD to computer and convert DVDMovie to play on iPod iPhone PSP, et portable players, you have toremove DVD region code.

Here we have one great software "Daniusoft DVD Ripper"which can remove region code from any DVD. Not just remove DVD regioncode and copy DVD to computer with 1:1 lossless quality, Daniusoft DVDRipperis also capable of converting DVD Movie to other Video auidoformat to play on portable players like iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP,Blackberry, etc.

Psp region code is incorrect on a movie what do i do?

to cut down on piracy sony put region coding on the games and the systems. what that means is that if you buy a psp in the u.s. you'll only be able to play games that are for the u.s market and same for the movies. its just like how the dvd players and region coded so that u can only play the same region movies. you may want to try downloading that movie since downloaded movies are not region coded.

How can i change the regio code on my psp

Depending on what country your system is made in it will have a certain region code. Most movies are also region coded and if those region codes do not match then you cannot play that movie. You cannot change the region code on any system unless it is opened up and modified

Region codes

PSP is a region free device that it is capable of playing media purchased anywhere in the world. However, the decision to make games and movies region specific is made by the publisher of each title and as a result some Universal Media Discs may not work on a PSP purchased in a different country.
Please ensure that you check each piece of software and UMD films for compatibility with your PSP before purchase.

PSP region code

Yes, US movies are region 1 and China and Southeast Asian markets are region 3. This is supposedly to keep piracy low but considering you can't even burn UMDs yet that's kind of ridiculous. Go to http://www.engadget.com/2005/11/24/neuros-pumps-up-neuros-mpeg-4-recorder-2-for-psps-and-ipods/
to find a mpeg4 converter for UMDs or else you could get a new region 1 drive and flashing your bios. There's talk in the air about Sony releasing it's movies all regions from here on out due to this problem.
