Hi Pls go to Device Manager and expand Imaging Devices. Check if your webcam is detected under Imaging Devices. If it is not listed under Imaging Devices, Then check if there is any other category 'Other Devices'. If you find the webcam under Other Devices, uninstall the webcam and restart, the computer. If that doesnt work, then you can try a System Restore or else format the computer. If you dont find the webcam anywhere in the Device Manager, then there is a hardware failure with the webcam.

If you upgrade your operating system like from windows xp to windows vista, you need to install new hardware driver for your computer like for LAN, webcam, WAN and others because the old driver is only compatible with the old operating system and not with VISTA operating system. Solution would are, download webcam and WAN driver for Windows Vista and install it into your computer. Don't just upgrade your computer because the configuration is not the same with the old operating system. If problem still exist, just upgrade the service pack from 2 to 3. There is available install for upgrading the service pack of each operating system. and surely all your hardwares will function.
is ur Webcam inbuilt or is it external thru USB ?
is ur Vista licenced ?
some of the Vista versons dont have all the drivers needed for some hardwares to work...
check and let me know...
Go to my computer/right click/properties/Hardware Tab/Device manager/

I have a solution. If it is an inbuilt webcam u'll get in the laptop itself. Click on the start button and in the start serach type as recovery manager and select the advanced options. U'll find an option hardware driver reinstallation. Select the option and also search for the webcam driverand re-install it. Hope this will work
Thanks and Regards Honey
webcam has small CCD in it and if it goes bad it will show you blue or white image sometime and then other times it will work fine is it is showing you blue or white images sometimes you can take LCD bezel of and then replace webcam easily it is just a small board with CCD inbuilt.
