Well, Truble's idea worked for me, but what happened is i turned it from mtp to msc on the usb control plugged it in and left it in for a while and then when i unpluged it, the restart began and it starting refreshing the database and everything was fixed! finally. Thats great thanks truble.

Okay, heres wut u can try. try to switch the USB mode from MTP to MSC (in settings, go to USB Mode and switch from MTP to MSC.) And then in the MSC mode connect it to the PC. I dunno bout ur sansa, but my did a Database Reboot, and the computor could see the player. Then u can switch it back to the MTP mode (czu its much mroe comfortable). Although i think the 0.5 gigs are lost forever (i lost 1.5 gigs,)atleast now u can dwonlaod songs on ur player.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Sansa clip is stuck on Refresh Database Screen.

1ST: Just try to 'reset' by holding down the main center button AND pushing UP on the lock/off-on button, for about 8-9 seconds,
It will then 'refresh' the database, shouldn't lose anything,
MANY problems can be fixed ultimately by the following;
REFORMAT the SansaDisk Clip by finding it in My Computer and right click then just 'format' the thing. THEN drag and drop new music into it (or books), DRAG and DROP, you apparently erase the thing with a 'FORMAT' ....BUT - it's .sys files remain and it is like new {as in empty}
This usually fixes almost anything, should even erase a virus (I'm guessing) but shouldn't hurt it.
Good Luck!

-simple 'drag and drop' from my MUSIC folder seems to work just fine for me...

The folder is hidden. You need to enable hidden files and folders in Folder Options on your computer. If you have the refresh database failed message often., you will need to format the device. Best of Luck.

That's a pretty weird problem. The only suggestion I can give you is to check to make sure the music you put on was 1) in mp3 or wav format and 2) if this is music you have purchased, to ensure you have the rights properly set to play the music

"refresh database failed"

You have an error in the firmware. This is damage than is irreparable by any user of a mp3 player. Call the company, tell then that your firmware was corrupted and ask how you can "hard boot" back into a "Fresh copy" of your firmware. Problem solved! hope this helps!
