Hi, I use Mozilla to browse the web and I'm trying to make Gmail the default email editor when I hit "contact us" on various websites. Right now, my computer opens up MS Outlook & I never use that email account, so I want to change it to my Gmail email address. I wonder if you can tell me how to do this & if it is the same for Internet Explorer uses, too. I am using Firefox 184.108.40.206 and the operating system is Windows Vista 2006. Thanks for your help!
You need to install a new account on your outlook or windows mail, turn it to default account, make outlook your default mail client and voila. everytime a program needs to initiate an e-mail message it will use microsoft outlook which is using g-mail as the default address

Your operating system is tied to MS Windows 2003 and also with the MS Office Suite of 2003 that's why the default is MS Outlook 2003. Gmail is internet based and not restricted to your operating system. You can also access MS Outlook on the internet (Microsoft Office Web Access - MOWA) You will have to operate the two seperately as both have the features you will need.
THanks & best Wishes
The issue or problem is caused by system drive letter has change or a software has changed the default security provider without knowledge of users.
To resolve the issue, change the system drive letter to revert it back to original value, or match the new drive letter to the security provider. If the default security provider has been changed, reset the default security provider in Windows XP by deleting the relevant keys in the registry.

Delete the following registry keys in the Windows registry:HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-20\Software\Microsoft\Cryptography\Providers Quit Registry Editor. Restart the computer.

If you use Yahoo! Mail for all your email needs, some of the amenities of Windows seem to elude you. A click on an email link in your browser brings up Outlook Express or another desktop email program, not a new message in Yahoo! Mail. Trying to send a file directly from Word, OpenOffice.org or another office application yields the same, unsatisfactory result.
Fortunately, the state of dissatisfaction need not be permanent. It will be overcome by making Yahoo! Mail act as your default email program in Windows, which, if you use Windows 95 or later is an easy thing to do. Make Yahoo! Mail Your Default Windows Email Program
To set up Yahoo! Mail as your default email client in Windows:
* Download and install Yahoo! Messenger. * Select Tools | Internet Options... from the menu in Internet Explorer. * Go to the Programs tab. * Make sure Yahoo! Mail is selected under E-mail. * Click OK.
Yahoo! as Default Email: Does Not Work under Windows Vista
Unfortunately, Yahoo! Mail as your default email program may be hard-wired to use Internet Explorer instead of your default browser, and it does not work in Windows Vista. Make Yahoo! Mail the Default Email Composer in Mozilla Firefox
In Mozilla Firefox, you can turn to the Mailto 2 Webmail script for Greasemonkey to have Yahoo! Mail handle email links (even under Windows Vista).
Using MAPI ( Messaging Application Program Interface) with Microsoft Outlook Express 5/6:
1. Start Microsoft Outlook
2. Go to Tools> Options.
3. Click Make Default under Default Messaging Programs- This application is NOT the default Mail handler.
4. Restart your computer.
Using MAPI with Microsoft Outlook:
Microsoft Outlook automatically sets up your MAPI E-mail program during installation. Make sure you M-O Email app. is properly set up with the right POP account name, password, SMTP mail host account, and other requirements. For further assistance, contact your Internet Service Provider *ISP* or systems administrator.
Usin Web-based E-mail Programs to Send Files *aol, yahoo etc...*:
Web based Email programs don't support MAPI functions. If you click on the Send button, it will not work. To send email files, follow the steps below:
1. Log in to your web based email service.
2.Compose a new email message.
3. Depending on your web based email service, look for the Attach, Attachments, or Insert option to attach your file. You will be prompted to browse for the desired file you want to attach. Change the directory to where you saved your file and attach the files.
