Picture Problem

There is a black rectangle in the middle of the screen that impedes my family from watching television. The rectangle even appears when a video tape is played. Please assist.

I have the same problem.

Turn off the closed caption with the original remote. If you do not have the origianal remote borrow one or buy one as you cannot remove the box or turn off the closed caption without it.
