I just got the unit and when I plug all the wires in I get power and my car recognizes it. The problem I am having is that after I loaded one of the CD magazines into the unit the player tried to read the disc on tray 6. Now tray 6 is stuck and will not retract back into the disc magazine. I don't know how to get that disc tray back in so that I can eject the disc magazine.

there should be a small connector on the changer itself for the power ground and remote wire for power to the changer unit. the cord coming from the unit to the changer doesn't supply this power and this is why it wont eject and also your head unit wont recognize it until it gets powered up and able to communicate with the head unit and then it will show up as a selectable source when switching between sources of music. check the back of the changer for a small connector containing 3 or 4 pins and you should have a connector with the corresponding wires coming from it to plug into this spot after connecting the wires properly. if you bought it on ebay it is possible you didn't get this piece which is critical when connecting this changer.
Sorry to hear it I had same prob with vw88e tried to email usa spec and get pin out but no results.. had to get the screwdrivers.. DO THIS ON A CLEAR TABLE WITH GOOD LIGHT !!face pops off easy enough ya gotta have 3 hands to gently hold ones youve popped and work the others then 6 little screws 3 on each side.. CAREFUL not to drop the little sliders for mounting in car they have springs that pull them out of thier home and they **** to get back in remove the top.you should be looking at the top now and can see the cartridge..and a little bit of the cd that was last playing. there's a large gear.. with a pin in a half moon with a little flat tail lookin slot. if the pin is in the little flat area, carefully spin the gear until its out of flat and around to top of moon. cd that was playing is now in cartridge.. on the bottom in the back is another little gear (Between the mechanical case and outer shell) carefully spin that gear until the disk selector is all the way down (if it goes up or doesn't move spin the other way) keep spinning until cartridge ejects if you want reassemble if you just wanted disks toss it as is if reassembling just go reverse face plate goes on last
The front of the disc changer has a sliding panel (usualy the left side slides to the right).
After you open it completely either on left or right bottom (inside) you will see a little red or yellow push button. This allows to eject the cassette.
No, the car doesn't need to be on, but depending if the wiring is standard or not it doesn't harm if the car is on.
IF IT'S A FIAT BRAVA ORIGINAL CAR RADIO WITH A SONY CHANGER IT WILL HAVE AN INTERFACE BEHIND THE RADIO WHICH MAY NEED RESETTING IF YOU DISCONNECT THE INTERFACE POWER FOR 2 MINS AND RECONNECT IT FAILING THAT THE SONY 6 DISC WILL BE JAMMED, WHICH IS COMMON
Hi the alpine/merc/bmw cd changer all seam to suffer with the same problem, they say no disc, or no mag
try firmly hitting the mag with the handle of a screw driver. the loadinga arm, tends to get stuck.
you could try using some grease on the arms, and levers, white spray gease works best. but dont forget to cover the laser beforehand, you dont want grease on it :)
