If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there. There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover. If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

If you don't have your instructions, please reply back with your brand and model number.

Once it's out of the wall, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed, just as you'll need to do on a counter top model.

On a counter top model, be sure it's unplugged, but otherwise ignore the instructions above this paragraph.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

My GE spacesaver microwave interior light is out. How do I change it?

The light is usually accessible when the oven cover is removed. Remove the cover after the oven has been unplugged for several hours. You will see the globe once the cover is off. Take care not to touch any other components in the oven and do not reconnect it till the cover is replaced and secure,

Can't find light globe in MC924JLA LG Microwave

I think you're referring to the bulb which is not working. You have to remove the cover from the microwave to gain access to the bulb. Replacements can usually be found at appliance repair shops or stores and electrical or lighting supply stores.

The light inside the microwave oven doesn't work. Can I replace it myself, or do I have to take it to an authorized repair place?

Hi.

To replace the light you need to take apart the external cover. This is not a difficult repair, but there are several safety issues involved when talking about microwave ovens.

Better having the repair done by an authorized technician. An energy leakage safety test will be performed after repair.

Replacement procedure on your Panasonic is similar to the procedure illustrated here for Jenn Air: How do I replace light bulb?

Regards.

How do I change the light bulb INSIDE the microwave?

What you need to do is remove the case of the microwave and you should be able see the globe inside the unit, make sure you discharge the high voltage capacitor before touching anything else. After that is done, simply remove the globe. Good Luck.

I have an Emerson microwave MW8119SB and the light doesn't work inside anymore. I just got it the end of 2008. Other than that it seems to be working ok but a light would be nice so I could see things...

Most microwave ovens are easy to change the light globe.

If you can get the cover off where the light is, you should be able to 'unscrew' the light globe itself.

Then simply go to an appliance repair shop and request a new globe.

Hint: Sometimes you can get a globe from an electrical store.

Replacement light bulb for Panasonic NN-9853 Microwave

Hello, I also have a Panasonic Microwave ( model NN-S 564 or 574 ?) They are very similar.
I have just removed the outer cover 5 screws ( unplug of course ) and have located the bulb holder which is a white plastic component with two clips holding the globe, pull it out and remove the two spade clips connected to the globe. The globe will come away attached to a black plastic mount. Next........do the run around to find someone who sells it.
Perth has an authorized distributer/repairer in Myaree whose details I got from Panasonic. He may sell them. otherwise I will try a couple of specialist light globe suppliers I know....PROLAMPS in Belmont and one in BALCATTA whose name escapes me but I have been there before...Hope this helps others.

You have to take the back (and sides) off the oven. There are 3 screws in th back. The globe is inside on the RH side (as you look at it)
